So, what is it that makes The World so fascinating to us???

I first visited WDW in 1998 when i was 12 after being to DLRP in 1996 and had a great time but, i didnt truely catch the Disney bug until my first trip to Disneyland Paris with my GF and her DD!! We loved it and were heading for WDW only 5 months later!!! :sohappy:

I was blown away, and when we were heading out there we had no intention of returning in 2009 but once we got home having just spent 2 weeks there,we were soon planning a 3 week trip for 2009 and now im hoping to return again in 2010!!!

What is it that makes this place so amazing, so addictive and so fulfiling that we want to return year after year after year???
Would love to hear all your thoughts on this!!

Foe me its got to be a number of things;

The feeling i get when i step on DME!
The feeling i get when i go under the Welcome to WDW Sign!!
The butterflies i get when i see Cinderella Castle down Main Street for the first time!!!
And the feeling of my heart pounding along with the beginning of Illuminations!!!!:sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

The list is probably endless!!!

So what do you guys think, what makes this ""Place Where Dreams Come Through" so special to us all???

It's the fantastic feeling of magic, be it in Fantasyland, or in Future World, or in Fantasmic, or in Dinoland, come to life. It's the feeling that the movies give you. It's the feelings you've always wanted to have. It takes your ideas of fantasy, of a better tomorrow, of magic, of hollywood, and make it come to life.

That's why.

It is a place where magic comes to life. You can soar over Neverland, visit the Hundred Acre Wood, you can go to Mickey's home and be with the characters you love.

The feeling of warmth, fun and welcomness when you step through the gates and walking down Main Street.

It is the place where you can have fun-no matter waht your age.

i love watching my kids 'grow up' there. the smiles the laughs and the photos. they love watching me get excited at seeing tinkerbell fly across the sky and the firework shows. i check reality at the gate and just submurge my family in the fantasy of wdw! traveling with others who are new to wdw is also so exciting as my kids get to show off their fav rides and shows! i can't wait for my next trip, which i need to plan! :ROFLOL:

I think it's because the whole place really amps up the feeling of it being a seperate world of its' own. They always go the extra mile in atmosphere, employees, and immersive attractions to make you truely believe you're in the fantasy world they're creating for you.
Plus we all grew up on Disney movies, so that helps too :D

I agree with everything that all previous posters have said and I'll add that WDW, and Dsiney Parks in general, is a great relief from the everyday stresses. Once you sorta touch down at MCO, you really start to forget what assignments you have been working on or what will be waiting for you when you get home and really just focus on everything going on around you.

I love that I can pretty much completely forget about the real world and just have a little fun for the week or so that I am taking in the Disney magic.

I've been to WDW over 20 times in my life and I don't think I have come close to seeing everything that there is to see and that's one major factor of the appeal for me. I don't mind going on vacation to Disney every year because I know that the experience is going to be different every time. I just started taking my 6 year old daughter there in the past few years and she absolutely loves it which provides a whole new level of excitement and entertainment. I think that sums up the majority of my fascination with WDW, ofcourse I could go on and on but I will leave it at that.:xmas:

For me, whenever I walk into Magic Kingdom, it instantly transports me back to a very special time in my childhood. I know I have discussed this before, so sorry for being repetative, but my first trip to Disney was in 1975 when there was ONLY the MK. It was also my only vacation with my dad, who passed away in 1977. So those memories are forever a part of my love of all things Disney, but especially MK.

As I have traveled to WDW over the years, that love has grown and changed to include all of the parks.

I am a 100% tried and true pixie dust snorter and I hope to never stop. :xmas:

First time going was in March of 2005, and I was 35 years old. Had a buddy who had been going every year with his family and heard all about the WDW magic after he would get back each time. It is one thing to hear about it from someone, but it wasn't until that first trip of ours that I truly knew why he went on and on about it.

Like everyone else is saying, I think the main reason it captures our hearts is because it IS an escape from everyday life for those few days we are there. All your worries seem to slip to the background and it allows you to feel like a kid again. As we get older, we have more stress and responsibility thrust upon us and WDW allows us to leave all of that at the Welcome gates as we drive in. It truly is a magical place!!!

I honestly thought at the time of our first trip that it was going to be a once in a lifetime vacation, never expecting to make a second trip a short 2 years later. We have been 3 times total now since 2005 and have a 4th trip already in the works for March 2011. We don't get away much due to mine and my wife's hectic schedules, so it gives us and the kids something to look forward to. As my signature says, I can't wait to escape again here soon!!!

I was 28 years old when I went the very first time! in 2000......It was overwhelming to finally get there....and see the castle and the characters.....it truly was a magical feeling.....planning our 6th trip for May 2010, and can not wait! No matter how many times you go, it seems to take all your cares away....you just forget about work, bills, problems,etc........people who have never been just don't get it...they don't understand why people keep going back year after year.......if they only knew.........;)

Some of my thoughts...

Walking down Main Street with that picture perfect view of Cinderella's castle, your ears filling with the instrumental music playing in the background.

Riding the Monorail, thinking how far ahead of his time Walt Disney really was.

Strolling through the World Showcase...with a drink in hand, admiring the architecture.

Ending the trip on the last night by watching Wishes.

It's the ultimate *legal* drug. No I don't do drugs lol, but you just escape from the real world problems and it's just so wonderful! Expensive, but worth every penny!
