What is it about Disney for you?

Is it one specific thing that makes this THE vacation spot to you? What about it makes you crave going there and just to get a little fix of the magic you come to forums like these? I know this has probably been discussed before but I like to return to nostalgia like first trips and such. For me it's the entire package WDW brings. The atmosphere sticks out to me the most. It's so carefree and everything makes you feel like you're 5 years old again(except the bills at the end) The food is top notch and some of my favorite dishes are at the world. But for me its the magic. This is what Disney can capture like no other. I've been to Universal many times and I can say it is a great park. I give it credit, it's a great fun one day park for me. At the world though, it is something else for me that I can't really put into words. It's kind of like Christmas morning everyday when you are there. Waking up and who knows what will happen that day. Maybe you'll win the stay in the castle? You never know, its the magic that the world captures. I feel so care free when I'm there. The stress of the everyday world is gone when you are there. You look around and see how happy everyone is and how much fun they are having. That's it for me really. I don't think anyone does it the way they do. It's incredible what they do for me and how it has affected my life and its my vote every year for where my family should go on vacation. When we go my family likes to sit by the pool but I make sure they come to the park with me just for a little bit because I know they love that sensation like I do. Disney does it like no other and for me, it's the magic they bring to me that has kept me a fan for life. Oh and just as long as they don't get rid of my Dole Whips and Cookie Sandwiches from Sleepy Hollow...haha
But what is it for you? Is it the same as me, or did something happen at the world or is it something else that's different then mine. Looking forward to the responses.

For me personally though, it's all the technology. I love lighting and sound, so all the shows are just where I like to be. Of course the magic helps, and having so much to do in one area. The fireworks make me stay every night too.

Magic

It's the Magic. The chance to see the magic in a child's eyes. To see my wife, children and grandchildren believe in the magic too. The chance for me to believe in magic one more time. It's just a Magical place.

Growing up watching Disney movies, Mickey Mouse, all that stuff... Going to Disney Land in California, then just recently going to Disney World this past May (2008). I gotta say I loved every minute of Disney World. It really is an amazing magical place.

I'm fascinated about how smooth everything runs, from clean up crews to ride lines, food lines, shows, traffic, etc...

I've been considering applying for a graphics position or web design position at Disney World. I love to see kids smile and see something I've done that makes them excited and smile, although I do not want kids myself, I still love knowing they enjoy something I've created for all of the world to see.

Being with my family and having fun together, laughing and eating all our favorite things. We love the music when you enter Epcot and walk thru Future World and the beautiful landscaping of the parks. I tend to have a "no worries" feeling when I am there. :o

Next Trip - January 2009

!:sohappy: For our family, it is a combination of everything. We love the parks especially at night when everything is lit up. The smell of the flowers at Epcot, the chance to spend time together in a quality way. Tosit down and have our meals together (except breakfast!!,DH sleeps in but DS-11 and I get to connect and talk about our day ! It's what keeps us coming back. We do other vacations, but Disney is our favorite. (in fact, we are looking for a trip to the UK in the next year or so , any suggestions?)

It allows me to be a kid again. I go their and all stress goes away, I don't think about my problems at home, or my work I just get to enjoy myself and my family for that one week stress free.

Disney holds a lot of my family memories for us. I grew up in So.Cal. going to DL all the time and remember watching my little sisters light up as we went time after time. Then as we moved to the midwest we began our annual trips to WDW for the past 6 years. During that time I have been there as a single mother, got engaged, got married, went pregnant, went with a newborn and am about to embark on another trip with my 2 little ones this winter to visit my younger sister who will be there on the college internship program!(cross your fingers she is waitng on the call) It is a way of life for myslef as well as my extended family. We always say "we were brought up Disney"...my sisters and I and for the first time last week I heard my 6 year old say to a friend. It's awesome to see her love it as much as we all did as kids. The magic just keeps growning in our family and I wouldnt have it any other way! It's magic!

I love the fact that you can go in and just be a kid again without anyone looking at you weird. And if they do, you dont really care because you are in WDW! lol.

I also love that I can be totally carefree and my stress just melts away.:)

It is the escapism for me. I have never been anywhere that gives you the feeling of separation from the "real world" like Disney.

I have never really been able to put it into words, but "escapism" might be the closest I've ever seen.

It simply allows all the outside things to slip away and just reminds me of a time when I had MUCH less to worrry about:)

To me it would be the fact that there is no other place like WDW or the other Disney parks for that matter. No other theme park franchise/resort I have been to has been able to replicate what Disney does. The resort theming, food, rides and the parks themselves are tops.

For me it has to be the "magic" that Disney brings to the table when putting on shows -- you actually feel as if you are part of the show!

Of course the fireworks are beyond compare -- especially ROE!

It's kind of like Christmas morning everyday when you are there.

That's a pretty good explanation of how I feel too... although I do watch the Disney Christmas parade first thing every Christmas morning on TV so that might explain that

But I pretty much agree with what everyone else has said, it's the greatest escape from real life, you feel like you're a kid again and they just do the most incredible job down to the very last detail

For me, it's a very comfortable place. It's almost as if everything was tailored to me and I have a personal relationship with the place despite having millions of guests a year that probably feel the same way

I echo the escapism comments. It's the prefect escape for harsh realities and is always constant -- at least in spirit. It's the spirit that brings me back. It kind of engulfs you as you step through the gates and causes you to forget the trivialities of life and just enjoy yourself.

There was a thread sort of like this a couple of months ago, so I searched for my answer to it. Here's a slightly abbreviated version...

Disney is the total package. It's appealing to me to leave the rest of the world behind and just have fun. There's so much to see, do, and experience for everyone.

Another thing for me is that Disney's in the details. From attraction theming to immersive resorts to little in-jokes all over the place, WDW is all about making sure every little detail is taken care of. I can walk through an area or ride an attraction multiple times and see something (even a small detail) that's new every time.

WDW is also about excellence and creativity. Nothing is done without a high standard of excellence at WDW. Disney inspires me creatively. As someone whose job -- and life -- largely involve creativity, I am constantly renewed and invigorated creatively when I visit WDW.

It's funny when I think about it because for me WDW always takes me back to a very innocent time in my life. My first visit was in 1982, I was 9 years old and I remember being completely blown away when I realized we were in Florida! I thought we were in "Disney World!" :lookaroun (Not too many people know this, so please don't hold it against me! :o)
I love that Disney had the abilitiy to do that and in someways it still does. Mostly everyone agrees that it's a place where you can leave all your stresses behind and just have fun!
