What's going on with the rides at Disney world I have been tracking wait times for the last few days and I have been seeing a lot of major rides temporarily closed for hours I have never seen this type of closers before

Thunderstorms around the area. Not necessarily directly overhead but relatively nearby. Lightening can strike 6 miles from the thunderstorm and rides have to be closed when it's that close. From the radar I've looked at there was a large cell just west of WDW and it's dying down now. It can be nice where you are but the danger is still there.

We were in the Orlando area over Labor Day visiting Uni. Thursday night was a huge storm with lightening that we were told when checking in around 6pm was gping to close many rides. Friday rained at WDW, with lightening, delaying parades and fireworks. Saturday, more thunderstorms.

And now there's this little tropical disturbance called Irma...

It is also not uncommon for the rides to be a little beat up at the end of the Summer Season when the parks have been running their longest operating hours leaving less time for overnight maintenance.

OK, I have to ask. If you just started tracking wait times how could you possibly know if that is normal or a current situation? I have been going for years and have only encountered one ride that was unexpectedly closed for the day and that was HM. I have been on others that were down for an hour or so, but, there is nothing new about that happening. It is the way of the mechanical world.

First of all this isn't my first rodeo I have been going to WDW for the last 35 years. I am also have reservations to stay on grounds in February, so I have been kinda hyped up and just have been tracking the wait times and in all my years I have never seen 12 major attractions in 3 parks closed I can understand if it was big thunder mountain that's out side but the indoor rides were shut down also.

Rides are closed unexpectedly during operating hours for technical reasons but it's certainly not the norm.

Oh, please... 4 parks with how many rides and attractions? I'd count them out but, I am not going to waste my time over witch hunting the numbers of down rides at any given time. For most of the last 35 years you had no way of knowing what rides were down either long term or short term unless you were standing right in front of it at the time. So, let's just stop with this "norm" garbage when we really don't know what norm is in this case. It may be true, but, it certainly isn't backed up by black and white facts. I doubt that Disney kept any records of how much minor downtime for repairs or protein spills that have accumulated over the years. And if you think that CM's know your wrong. If you think that the executives sitting in their sheltered, AC'd offices know, you have a very distorted view of reality.

Goofy is part of the fake news theory. A plot derived by an innocent tourist to take down Disney. Why would davis0042 lie?

In the Parks
Yes
Maybe the app is wrong? When I was IN the parks, I would check the app and it would tell me a ride was temporarily closed, even if I was currently in line for that ride. Shrug.

First of all you don't need to be rude. I have been to WDW in the last 5 years 4 times and getting ready to go back. And since the WDW app has been out I have just been keeping a eye out on the wait times and this month I have noticed the amount of temporary closed rides at the same time and these are the major rides aka the attention getters. So why don't you climb down off your high horse and get a grip on reality.

Thank you I love Disney world it is my favorite place and I was just been watching the app trying to make my plans for my next visit which isn't to far away and I have noticed over the last few days that the big name rides were closed and that's a big deal when almost every major ride was closed over the 4 parks for several hours
