What is Funnel Cake?

I tried my first one this last trip - I wasn't that impressed. They were ok, but not as tasty as all the hype they get. They are just batter with sugar.

I think funnel cakes are a subjective experience. I personally prefer a fluffier fried dough (like you can only get in New England or New Orleans I'm finding out).

I personally think if you prefer fluffier donuts, you will not be overwhelmed by a funnel cake. If you prefer the thicker cake type donuts, you will love funnel cakes.

I would try one as a snack, but, be warned, it's heavy. They are tasty no doubt, but, to me, it's too heavy as the batter is rather thin and the grease seems to eminate throughout it. But then again, I'm the type of person that orders an order of Bengiets (sp) at POFQ "to go" with an extra bag just to take out the bengiets (sp) and have only a small coating of powdered sugar on them and keep my fluffy/non overly loaded with sugar delicious goodness in.

To me, a funnel cake is something that must be avoided at all costs - the same goes with cinnebon (sp?). I'm no healthy eater but the smell of these if just so over powering that they just smell really unhealthy and they are HUGE. My stomach just can't take it (or is it that my mind wont let my stomach take it?).

Cinnabon is so tasty, but have you ever watched them make them, when they layer in the gobs and gobs and gobs of butter?

The only time I eat Cinnabons is on a trip HOME from WDW. It has become a tradition with me and my kids. They love them, and most of the time if I am out and they want one, I get them one, and I just sit and watch them eat it. However there is that cinnabon place in MCO by the Continental gates. We get off the monorail and the smell just hits you. We know we have time to kill before the plane, so that has become Cinnabon time.
