I keep hearing about Le Cellier becoming a signature restaurant. What does this actually mean to the normal guest. Does that just mean its going to be more expensive or does it limit who can dine, etc...?

From what I know, signature restaurants are more expensive, and they cost 2 credits on the dining plan.

Robbery, I tell ya. Highway robbery.

But yummy.

Sometimes.

In my opinion, Signature dining means that the food and atmosphere combine into a truly unique dining experience. Be it location or menu, you are willing to pay top dollar for the experience.

It does not limit who can dine, but it may have a dress code.

It's mainly the cost of food on the menu.

Hollywood Brown Derby, California Grill, Citrico's, Flying Fish, etc all are signature because they are fine dining. Le Cellier is barely a signature compared to these places and the reviews I've seen for them.

What it really means is that due to the dining plan they had to decide wether to scale back items on the menu so as not to lose money or charge two dining plan credits. If it's a regular restaurant they went with the first option if it's a signature restaurant they went with the second.

If you're on the dining plan, certain higher-end restaurants will cost you two table-service credits instead of one. They are the Signature Dining restaurants. Cali Grill at the Contemporary is one, as is Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge, Cinderella's Royal Table at the MK, and various others. And soon, Le Cellier will also be added to that list.

If you're not on the dining plan, what it means is that soon you might have a better chance of getting a reservation :D Le Cellier has been very very popular, and has been considered one of the best "Bang for your Buck" restaurants on the dining plan. Now that it'll cost more credits, it may be a little easier to get into it.

Signature Restaurants are a completely different dining experience than normal sit down restaurants. Yes it means more expensive meals, but it also means more relaxed meals too. You can expect exceptional service and a very slow dining pace...there is definitely no feeling of "we need to get you served as fast as possible so we can flip this table over" pace. Last time we had a Signature meal it lasted about 2.5 hours...I know it seems crazy...but it is a fantastic experience spreading a meal out over that much time!

It's definitely expensive...usually atleast $50/person, but a VERY nice change to the normal atmosphere of the restaurants around property. And very VERY delicious food!!!!

while I have yet to join the le cellier bandwagon, and I agree some of the "signature" restaurants are indeed a little bit pricey (or a lot).Yet to me some of them are very worth it. Jiko is my personal fave but either way I look at it as a blissful reprieve from the fast food of the parks, a chance to escape for a little solace and a great meal. If I didn't do the ddp I'd still book at least one per visit. And most offer an atmoosphere that is extremely unique. You can watch wishes at california grill for example after a superb meal. To me the signatures offer just that little bit extra. they "plus" it (in imagineer speak)

While most Signature restaurants have the "business casual" dress code, the in-park Signature restaurants do not. (Though at the moment the only in-park one is Brown Derby)

So is anything going to change at Le Cellier in regards to the menu or the price (for those paying out of pocket)? Has Disney simply determined that the current prices + the popularity warrants an elevation to signature status? Or are they making any kind of changes to make it worthy of the signature designation? In other words, the day after it becomes officially a "signature" restaraunt, will anything about the menu, the prices, or the atmosphere be any different than it is now?

Hopefully it will be on the list of restaurants that cast members can use their 50%, 40%, etc holiday coupons. Thats the only time we go to these places. They finally added CRT last year.

Heading for the great escape.
A place where Disney inflates the price more than usual in exchange for serving average food but on proper plates and usually on tables not topped with Formica.
