What I think...as of today...for now...

That article hinted that most of that area will be bulldozed to increase flow between LS and FL.
They can't bulldoze MOST of it--those trees have the important role of blocking view of the HM and IaSW ride buildings. Also, it would be a waste of money to bulldoze all of that space as you just create a bottleneck b/t IaSW and Peter Pan. They could widen the entrance to Fantasyland SLIGHTLY, but there is no sense making it wider than the walkways in the rest of the land are (and I doubt they plan on demolishing any of IaSW or Peter Pan's queue).

I love the title of this thread - so ironic, funny and true. I've been skimming through the various rumors here, and frankly my head hurts. :p All I've managed to deduce is that the expansion plans have changed at least somewhat, and a new mystery attraction is in the works, and no more Pixie Hollow (small loss IMO. But then I don't like the Tinkerbell movies. Tink looks like a small-eyed plastic doll in them, and I don't like that she's talking - for one thing, she talks too much - and Tink's world apart from Peter isn't very interesting. But then I'm not a 7 year old girl).

Hopefully we'll get some solid news soon. Then all the quibbling will end and we can all get excited (I hope) about FLE again.

Wouldn't the skyway be an obvious location for a Tink meet and greet? It's right across from Peter Pan's Flight and I truthfully don't believe the skyway area is big enough for the queues, stroller parking, and actual facilities for several princess M&Gs.

I do not see this as an improvement on what was promised at the D23 Expo. Especially the overwhelmingly derivative circus-land.

Seriously, this is not better and this is what happens when WDI gets run by committee. Everyone thinks they can out "WDI" WDI. But it never improves the product. You see this same mindset in the movie business. George Lucas created his own studio because of it.

Suits.

I want to applaud Lee not just for doing some decent detective work putting together this puzzle from different sources, but also for the way he is sharing the information with us.

I am certain that Jim Hill, Al Lutz, and other website operators (including WDWMagic) would have loved to splash the headline "SWA Out, Dwarves Mine Ride In" across their front page this morning, and reaped the profits of hundreds of thousands of page hits from Disney fans around the world (while also drawing the attention of mainstream media like the Orlando Sentinel).

Lee's approach of breaking this news in a discussion forum speaks to his nature as a Disney fan who apparently is connected to some knowledgable insiders.

Yes, I understand that Lee has issued the disclaimer that this is not official and subject to changes and mistakes. But it is impressive work nonetheless.

Thanks, Lee!

Huh. Well, the location - if I'm remembering it accurately - is certainly apt, as you pointed out. I wonder if the Imagineers are giving up on Tink entirely as a park attraction? If they decide to still use the character in that form, what might be cool as a M &G is if an enclosed little building were constructed that, when you entered it, looked like you'd stepped into a twilit wood, with a dark sky and stars overhead, crickets chirping, and fireflies and trees and oversized mushrooms and so on. Maybe a glimpse of Big Ben in the distance. After all, Peter Pan's encounters with our world always took place at night. And then kids could meet Tink and friends in an appropriate setting. That would be cool IMO.

Staggs said himself that THRILLS were being introduced, which suggests this won't be a gentle coaster. Family friendly, but not gentle. A mine ride SHOULD have at least some thrill...and given the theme, it could also be a very pretty ride. There are some very pretty scenes in the Journey to the Center of the Earth ride at TDS that come to mind (I realize this ride will be no where near the scope of JttCotE--my point is Disney has made some very impressive cave-themed rides in the past).

I agree with this. Think of the coaster cars plunging underground to diamond-filled caverns and the dwarfs working, with their pickaxes clanging, and the "Hi Ho" song playing in the background. That would be so AWESOME!!! Now I'm excited about the FLE again. It's so nice to feel hopeful about it for a change. The original plan, as announced at D23, was something of a letdown. But this part of it, at least, has possibilities...

In fact, the SW coaster was always designed for that area. It got bumped for the M&G complex, which it in return has bumped.

None of this is happening all that quickly. What we have spent a week or two trying to figure out, was put into motion months ago.

Everything Lee posted in the original post seems to be in line with what Juan is saying and what I have heard as well.

The only differences I've been hearing is that the Skyway building may play more of an immediate role, and last I heard Snow White was being discussed but not definite. The timeline for all these discussions check out, and beyond that I'll defer to Lee's post for information.

Great summary Lee.

I'm also led to believe it will be highly themed. People need to remember though, this is not going to be Expedition Everest.

So what you are saying is that all the effects will be working 3-5 years after the attraction opens?:D:drevil:

So we are left with the info you have gathered vs. what Staggs says. Someone is mistaken....er........I guess I'll keep it nice.

And how is what Staggs has said any different than what Lee is posting? I do not see how the two are in opposition. What Lee is posting seems to be completely in line with what Staggs has said.

I meant most of the structure not the trees and as far as the money, they aren't making any money from the area anyway. The area is a flow nightmare anything that they could do to improve would be good enough for me.

My one question to Lee:

Anything on what might the eventual ride to replace SWSA be? Such as a film title?

Everything sated? Sounds good to me.

Frequent lurker here, coming out of the shadows to say I hope everyone can now breathe a big sigh of relief that there are some answers and some hopefully pleasing ones for most everyone at that. These boards have been on fire the past few days and everyone has been rabid for more information.

A personal thank you to all of you guys out there that worked so hard and put up with so many gazillions of questions to provide us with this information. I know others have publicly expressed their gratitude and let me speak for those of us that generally don't post too frequently - good job.

Since I decided to pipe up, I agree with what many have said. The mine Coaster - Yay! The circus themed Dumbo area with tents (really, can't those just go away forever??) - Meh! Hooray for no Pixie Hollow and reduced meet and greets! I agree with the one poster that had suggested the old skyway area for a condensed Pixie Hollow since it is adjacent to Peter Pan. I am a single guy and travel with other singles so meet and greets mean zip, zilch, nada to me and honestly, if I had kids, they probably wouldn't be that much more important, at least to me. I don't pay big bucks every day to go stand next to some guy or girl in a mask LOL.. Same goes for playgrounds in the parks....If I was a kid again, and I had the opportunity to go on a slide or a swing or go ride something a million times better, I know which one I would pick.

Even though Lee wanted this to all be fact based, I am susprised there has not been more said about the temporary placement of the meet and greets in SWSA. We all know what temporary means to the guys down there and when I hear that, it makes me think I might be visiting the parks riding on my Rascal before I see anything to replace it. Nevertheless, we are such a group of dreamers that I figured by this number of posts there would have been at least one person that said what they would like to see go there as a replacement.

Thanks again to everyone and time for me to climb back under my rock and lurk some more. Not used to the bright lights and my eyes blur and skin burns easily.

This Snow White Mine Coaster ride should be an interesting challenge. seeing as its slap bang in the middle of an area, the whole thing needs to be enclosed somehow without letting guests see "behind the scenes". I always thought the area was quite small too?

awesome news anyway :)

cindy's house and sleepy's cottage may have looked cool. but c'mon... its just a pretty facade with nothing that interesting going on inside. meet and greets? not for everyone really.

i'm kind of hoping that the closing down of the current Snow White ride will hopefully have Aurora move in. would be nice to have a Sleeping Beauty dark ride. just imagine something like the castle walk through at DisneyLand. but on a bigger scale, obviously :)
