What I think...as of today...for now...

Jeeze, I was hoping with time, budget cuts might downsize the Dumbo-land. xP I realize it's a classic, but, in thinking like that, shouldn't every classic get its own land? (I'm speaking sarcastically, of course. I don't expect every movie to get its own land. :p) I understand the need for more occupancy on the ride; that line is huge! I'm just baffled by why it needs its own circus themed land. =/ And aren't a lot of children afraid of clowns? I know quite a few that are at least. It kinda limits families who would otherwise ride Dumbo and go into the gift shop when their child is terrified of a major thematic element. *shrug*

While I do think that walking through Fantasyland as originally shown last Septemeber would be beautiful, I think getting an additonal attraction is much better than M&G's.

That being said, Lee do you think the exterior of the coaster will incorporate the dwarfs cottage to blend in with the other new areas in the FLE?

It will blend in, and be highly themed. Other than that I know nothing about it's appearance.
Well probably all learn that in the next couple months.

Wow ive been gone all day and come home to this thread and it has my head spinning. Exciting stuff. Thanks Lee!

Ok so its sounding now like SWSA may be saved afterall?...Lee would you guess 50/50 at the moment on its chances?..... If they do keep it, it would be nice if they added in some of the new effects from Disneyland though.

If they dont keep it, I dont see how the M&G would only be temporary. I mean by the time they go in there and gut it, rip all the tracks out of the floor, retheme it for princesses with different rooms etc etc,,,,there is no way a new ride is going to replace it anywhere soon down the road. Im just thinking from a (not TDO standpoint even tho that may have some merit) but from a logistical type standpoint.

Well, just to throw in my two cents ...

I'll take the Dwarf Coaster over the M&Gs any day of the week. As I have repeated, ad nauseum in other threads, M&Gs are not attractions, they are excuses to not build attractions. I think the idea of one singular Princess M&G area is far preferable (and hopefully they can put together a venue, not unlike the Animation Workshop in DCA) in the Skyway area to house them.

I do not like the idea of removing the current Snow White attraction, unless they intend to utilize the storytelling elements in the new attraction. It is the antithesis of what they should be doing in their parks (removing and replacing instead of adding to and expanding).

And finally, I think all the circus-re-themeing is a waste of money. Perhaps I'm out of touch, but I don't think there is that much of a clamoring for more Dumbo-based areas. It seems to me that they are just looking for the cheapest way to make the area look different ... and if they are going to do things the cheapest way, I'd just prefer they not do it at all and use the money somewhere else. In other words, if I could get one Snow White-scale dark ride in AK for the same price (and I bet I could), I'd rather have that. Or alternatively, they could use the money to remove the Magic Carpets (and yes, I realize this contradicts what I just wrote, but the MC suck so bad) and restore Adventureland. Or add something small to Tommorrowland.

Where as I was in full-on complaint mode about "chasing a fad" with Pixie Hollow, I don't even thing the Dumbo circus themeing is chasing a fad; it's more like chasing something they think is popular but really isn't (imho).

Lord they have only said that the BatB and LM areas are staying like 100 times.

If you want to talk to people like they are stupid I will oblige, If you read my question(can you read) I acknowledged that the area is staying but there has not been any mention specificaly of the M&G area.:fork:

If any of this changes again, that's because Disney is changing it, not because Lee was lying. WDI is determined to make the FLE as good as it can possibly be, an attitude that once prevailed throughout WDW. I'm thrilled to see this kind of effort being applied to WDW again. :D

Thanks for chiming in.

Your statement is the most positive thing we have heard in this thread... and it has been overwhelmingly positive. The tough part about being such an avid fan is the level of expectation. We hold Disney to a higher standard at times than is really possible. It is good to hear about the attention to detail and a genuine effort to make this expansion a place for both the casual guest and the hard core fans.

I completely agree. I LOVE Casey Junior and his theme song, and like many people have never been big on clowns!

And the clowns in Dumbo are NOT sympathetic characters. They exploit Dumbo for their own gain. After the iconic, touching, and tear-inducing "Baby Mine" sequence - arguably among the most touching and beautiful sequences in the history of cinema - comes one of the most chilling sequences in the film.

The clowns plot to raise the platform from which Dumbo must jump to a ridiculously high hight of hundreds of feet, and when one says that Dumbo might get hurt, another says "Elephants ain't got no feelings, they're made out of rubber". This right after the enormous EMOTION shown by Dumbo and his mother in the "Baby Mine" sequence.

So who's the real "human"? The elephants, or the clowns?

Very true. In fact, the entire circus in Dumbo was pretty twisted. The ring master was greedy and tempermental and the clowns are just like you described. And Dumbo leaves the circus after he becomes famous. So why would they want to devote an entire section of FL to this?

I say build dumbo, but keep toon town the way it is (with the exception of the tents).

I haven't read through all those posts, but I am amazed at how our wild speculation came close to what is apparently the truth. I love this place.

I really hope there's a main drop at the end of the ride!!

Plus, how is this thing going to look? Will it be another 'mountain'?
