What Happened To Rivers of Light?

If the Rivers of Light show isn't a vast improvement on the Jungke Book one they have a problem. Couldn't even see the main stage from our seats and the sound and lighting were awful.

So you've seen the Jungle Book show? Do you think it's worth doing the dining package for? Was it hard to get in as far as crowds/good seating? We have the dining package for July at Tusker House so we can get reserved seating, but I'm not sure it will be worth it. Tusker House is not normally a place we'd choose to eat at.

All the feedback I've heard is a resounding "no" on the Jungle Book. It seems it was "thrown" together as a stop gap before they actually release Rivers of Light and that's evident in the performance/choreography.

We're thinking of maybe going back in the Fall. I keep holding off booking hoping the Rivers of Light become a reality. I'd like to see a new attraction / show for a change.

If you're not in front of the main stage you won't see the main characters who apparently were singing. We didn't get to choose where we sat so thought we were in a good place till it started. Small children will be bored stiff I suspect as mostly what you see is an attempt at Bollywood dancing. We joined the queue by the Dinosaur and there were plenty of seats but then it was Friday night before the official opening. It was the awful sound and fuzzy projections on the water screens which were the worst bits.

I saw a little bit of it on you tube. I also noticed lot's of Indian dancing, which is nice, but doesn't really have much to do with the Jungle Book story. Also lots of complaints about the projections and sound. Well, hopefully it'll get better.

Instead of saying 'there's a whole thread about this,' be a pal and link up.

...I've been wondering the same thing. Shame it's delayed but at the same time it's not like they can close the park to test stuff. They're making improvements and fixing stuff so i'd rather them take their time and make it worth the wait then a half show like most parks would.

Like someone else said, damned if they do, damned if they don't. Hopefully it will be open soon though. Looks like it's on/off trials atm.

Anybody remember the tragedy that was Light Magic? It was Disneyland's replacement for the Main Street Electrical Parade. It wasn't ready for prime time, either, but they ran it anyway. It had such bad press that Disney took it down after one summer, promising to fix it and re-introduce it. But it never came back.

I think Disney did a good thing by holding the debut of Rivers of Light. But I'm not sure that this Jungle Book show is a good thing. Definitely getting mixed reviews online. What I saw of it looked pretty unspectacular.

Really? Well this is a disappointment and I've booked Tusker House on the 11th for the showing.

Light Magic was flawed from conception though. RoL is constrained by its tech.

The DoP of the LM tv special did almost as much halm though...

Ok so after reading some of the reviews maybe I'm not so disappointed about the Jungle Book show being a limited engagement... lol. Not coming until December, so hopefully they get the bugs worked out of RoL by then...

Kipling's stories take place in India. He was born there. I am assuming you know that the movie was based on the book(s) he wrote?

Yes, of course. I was saying too much dancing not enough story. That and just not being all that good according to the reviews I've been reading.
