What Happened in Paris...can EASILY Happen in Disney World

Airport security consistently and routinely fails to detect contraband.

No amount of searches will prevent the scenario you describe. It can't be stopped and so yes, you are fear mothering because you are trying to use fear to get people to act unreasonably.

Nope. You're wrong.
In the recent attacks in Paris......the security guards searched one of the terrorists who was trying to gain access to the soccer game (for which he had a ticket)......since the terrorist was wearing an explosive vest the search blew his cover so he detonated the vest.
In turn a FAR smaller number of people were casualties. Had he not been searched he would have gotten into the stadium and killed HUNDREDS.

So searching did prevent a far greater terrorist attack. And you are wrong.

It has in fact been discussed and mentioned as a possibility many times before and a quick search bore out the above threads for starters. I have been part of a couple discussions in the past...ad nauseum.

I stated my point on page one or two and left it at that, arguing with someone on the internet is like trying to teach a cat to knit a sweater.

So if it has been discussed before...then why are you guys still against increasing security.
Clearly you have learned nothing.

And if arguing on the internet is fruitless....then why are you still going? Live you life behind rose-colored glasses and let's hope you aren't in the blast radius.

Oh, the irony....

Since I don't have the time to read through all ten pages of this thread, I am going to just post my recent experience with possible problems at Disney World. On September 23, 2015, my husband and I were walking through the new Fantasy Land area near the entrance of BOG. I noticed what could be called a handled dark-colored paper bag, about 18" high, 12" wide, and 6" deep, placed on a ledge where the new Fantasy Land gates are north of the Carousel. It didn't appear to be any regular shopping bag used at Disney World and by how it was "standing", it definitely contained something. There was absolutely no one near it and the first thing I did was find a nearby castmember to tell them to alert security. I actually found three conversing at the nearby ice cream shop and they had already noticed the bag and were waiting for security to arrive. We immediately left the area and alerted our son to avoid this area--where by chance he had been headed towards. Be pro-active. If you see something unusual, tell someone. I get so tired of hearing the news crews interviewing the neighbors about the "perpetrator next door" and they either say that they were a quiet person and kept to themselves or that they thought something was going on but didn't want to get involved. This is one of the main reasons the lockers were removed from under the train station at the Magic Kingdom. An explosion would block the regularly used exit. Of course, my husband is ex-military and he is constantly aware of his surroundings and throughout the years I've learned to pay attention. Think Disney World would be bad? What about parking garages--especially the one at Universal with limited access points and specific park and venue closing times? Let's face it, acts of terrorism can happen anywhere and at any time. Pay attention, stay alert, prepare, and know where the alternative exits are--especially when in densely populated enclosed areas. Some will call me paranoid; however, I do not want any member of my family to be a victim of terrorism or other act of violence.

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.” - Bene Gesserit Litany Against Fear

A) Get over yourself...you did not invent talking about Disney security pros and cons and I proved that it has been done. As for "you guys" shall we all just roll over and not discuss a topic that you started in order to discuss???? Oh, and where exactly is it that I said I was against increasing security anyway? *crickets*

B) If you even cared to read my post some pages ago you would realize I was not disagreeing with you and never once did I argue with you on any single one of your points because I recognize everyone's right to post their opinions. Lashing out at anyone making a point on a discussion you started in order to discuss is...well pointless.

You seem to want to argue with anyone who does not want to pat you on the back for this thread...hit "ignore" if you do not like what I said but seriously bud I said nothing against you in any way shape or form. I was in fact an ally of sorts but now...well....not so much.

Why are you still talking to me?
