What exactly is concierge service?

I am in the process of booking a dream vacation for my family in October 2014. Part of this vacation includes a Royal Suite on the Dream. I understand we will have a person to assist us with dinner and excertion reservations and there is a lounge and sun deck we can use, but I am just curious what else is included. We are not demanding people and we don't expect much but if there is something that would make the experience better for my DD I may take advantage of it.

You are correct, there is a lounge and sun deck, and people to assist you with reservations. Your booking window will open much earlier than most people, so if you are paid in full you can grab hard to get things like a cabana on Castaway Cay.

You'll board first and there will be a reception in the lounge with free drinks and snacks. The concierge team will meet with you and help plan anything you may have missed.

You'll be pampered for sure! :)

Do you ever think there will be a time where DCL allows non-concierge to pay for priority boarding like the other cruise lines? I'd love that perk without all the other stuff, haha. Maybe Fastpass+ for DCL. ;)

Hmm, I still think the only thing that interests me is priority boarding, haha.
If you have teens like me...or hate wearing anything other than shorts like me...being able to order Palo & dining room meals and have them served in-room is awesome. That's the part I would covet most. If I had the unlimited internet I'd be Instagramming non-stop. And prob'ly texting @Disneyfalcon way more than I should. LOL!

My kids really used the unlimited Internet service I think we had four devices running all day and half the night and had a number of packages that they refunded.

Palo dinner was nice in room but a bit cold.

Ah. See now I would expect it to be not quite as good in-room just because they don't have the same facilities right there at hand. The key is that it gives teens who would enjoy the food from Palo the opportunity to try it. My oldest is really close to 18 now. He's so miffed that we don't have a family cruise on the books for this year. ((Going to DL instead.))

Dude. I'm looking at Andrew's list. We need to upgrade to a Royal in September.

I'm open to discussion on this but I kinda doubt either one of us would spend the $$. We'd sit there making lists of other stuff and trips we could take. Kinda how we do with furniture. Why buy furniture when you can book another cruise, right???

You're right of course, but man it sounds nice. :)

But wouldn't it be cool to sit across from each other sending texts and Instagrams just because we could????

Yes. That. :)

Why the hard-on for boarding early? It's not like there is a huge wait in the terminal...
I do the same thing. I stress myself out of my gourd over it. I dunno why. I'm stupid like that, I guess. Part of me feels the need to squeeze every ounce of time out of my embarkation day. It likely also has to do with my competitive nerve that cannot fathom not clawing past the masses to get there ASAP. LOL!

Sorry for my remedial questions but I have another. My DD wants to go to the pool as soon as possible. I know our cabin may not be ready when we board so how will they notify us when it is ready? I plan on packing our swimsuits in a carry on so she can play while we wait.
