i will preempt this by saying i was also a wand supporter on SSE. having said that i did like the hat it said disney when entered the park.once again i think its those in charge trying to appease the overly loud complaining minority.if you gripe enough in todays society everyone will jump thru hoops to quiet the minority until they find something else to complain about.which they will soon enough and expect the same results.
I can see your point, but, really you had to see the street before the BAH to understand what was lost when it was put there. It was a beautiful sight, not unlike seeing the Castle from Main Street USA. It was balanced and had a purpose that kept in the theme. The hat, although probably a good thing located in a different spot, did not fit the area. It blocked one of the finest views in the parks and was proportionately completely out of place.
It was originally intended to be a temporary spot to celebrate Walt Disney's 100th Birthday, but, as we can see by the effort it took to take it down recently, and schedules to be taken down shortly after 9/11 when tourist dropped and revenues along with it, they made a bad decision to keep it there. It's just something that all of us that experience something during our initial visit, miss when it's gone. For me it's two things, first the Theme of CoP when I first saw it. (Best time of our life) gone now and replaced with the original (Great Big Beautiful). It felt like a loss at the time, but, has recreated the history of the original ride and I can see the benefit of the change. The other is 20K. It was there on my first visit and I rode it every time I was there no matter how long the line was. That is gone, I just have to accept it, which I did, but, I also like 7DMT so I am OK with it being gone now because thinking back it was pretty cheesy. It was different though.
The hat is the same thing. Those that remember it from the first time are saddened by the loss. Those that remember the beauty of the street without it, are glad to see it go, like it was supposed to years ago. To us the hat was like doing the Castle Cake and then never taking it down. It was OK for it's purpose and planned life span, but, anything longer then that would have been an atrocity. Also just as a side note, Disney doesn't even respond to the majority much less the minority.
