I know practically nothing about cars; but, I think it's impressive that some people are skilled enough to figure out how to use a manual transmission. If my little car wasn't an automatic, I know I wouldn't be driving! :)

I've been drivin' nothin' but manual trannies (my personal transportation) for over 25 years, since we purchased 2 new vehicles: an '88 Hyundai Excel and a '90 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. Both 5-speed. I taught DWifey how to drive stick in the Hyundai and she easily moved right on over to the Cherokee 2 years later. I first learned down on the family farm when I was 13 in an old '63 International Harvester pickup with a 6-banger and three on the tree (straight 6-cylinder engine with a 3-speed manual transmission with the shifter on the steering column).
Initial vehicle cost is less, and they, generally, get better (although most slush boxes - slang for automatic tranny ;) - these days have lockup torque converters, so that mileage gap isn't as wide anymore) mileage.
Fun to drive and I like bein' involved in the process, but, yes, can be a real PITA in traffic, especially around here where it tends to be pretty hilly.
Plus, I may or may not have actually left my lights on a time or two when parking it in the morning at the office , and, all I needed to do at the end of the day when I walked out to a dead battery was roll her through the parkin' lot and out to a side street that goes into the valley below and dump the clutch on the roll down to get her started. :)

I drive a 2012 Silver - Silver Edition Nissan Pathfinder. As some of you may recall, my previous 2012 Pathfinder was totaled in an accident back in September. The officers and the body shop guys all said it's the Pathy's body on frame construction that kept us safe in what could have been a deadly wreck- so naturally I got another rather than opting for something with unibody construction (i.e. the new Pathy). She's not flashy, but she's got room for 7 when family comes into town and she's got a killer sound system. :D Oh yea- and her name is Belle!

2010 Nissan Altima Hybrid. As hybrids go, it's not especially great on gas (35 mpg) but driving under 40 miles an hour it stays in electric mode which is pretty cool on local roads.
