Hey guys!
I don't usually make topics on here...so sorry if its a) in the wrong place or b) if people don't consider it worthy of discussion but....

What on earth do you people do to try and keep the excitement at bay?
We leave for our trip to the World in 9 days and they are dragging in! I'm too excited and I think it's making matters worse! How do you pass your time?

I'm a student so only work 2 days a week which at the moment is killing me and I wish I could work more just to avoid thinking about WDW.

Also am I the only one who worries themselves sick about their trip? I'm worried I have built up the excitement to such a level that my trip will never live upto it :S What if WDW isn't as magical as I remember? What if I don't enjoy it as much as I think I will!?

I think I'm going insane!

First of all, don't worry!! Even if it rains or something, your trip will still be as magical or more magical than you remember before!! :)

As far as keeping busy as to not go crazy with anticipation...that's a tough one. We usually leave on somewhat of a whim and go sort of last minute, so this time when we plan I'm sure I'll be feeling the same thing.

I clean a lot when I'm excited, then I prepare, and over prepare, and check trip plans and ADRs and such.

If you are a picture taking person, maybe go over a layout of each park map and write a rough list of places you want to be sure to get a picture of. That should take some time.

It has always been hard to hold the excitement at bay, I go in just over a month and am having issues with it.

but to do so I:

occupy myself with friends and family.
We are moving, so I am trying to concentrate on the house.
If I need to I watch my favorite Disney movies and sing along.
I go on websites like this, and go nuts along with everyone.
I close my eyes and picture myself there already!

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't....9 days....its a lot better than 120...but that of course that doesn't always help.

As for disappointment, I try to look at it as though every trip down there is different. We have had good times, and better times...and some not so. But a bad day there beats a good day at work any day....But don't worry you will have a fabulous time. Remember its your vacation. And its what you decide to make it....But it will be just as magical as you remember!

oh you are not alone, I am so consumed everyday with my trip ( 146 to go). I work full time, a mom of 2 and I still do no thave enough to take my mind off of Disney.

The very first we went Ithought I was going to have a nervous break down before the trip, but I made it and let me say this, when you arrive, settled in, make it to the MK, before you walk through the gate take a deep breath, then go in. I can tell you as soon as you walk under the train station and make it to the beginning of Main street and look down at the castle it will be so over whelming, I cry every time.

Also here is something to make you chuckle..this forum is my support group.:animwink:

Best way I found to overcome that problem:
I moved to Florida.
Relieves a lot of the symptoms of "Can't Wait Syndrome".
Now it's more like "Hmmm...I have a day off. Maybe I should drive up to the parks today."

Keep myself exceptionally busy so I don't even remember I have a WDW trip planned until the day before I leave

The problem with that is that you have to deal with Florida in order to live there ;)

Why do you think I got out? :D

My 2 kids and my FT job keep me busy :ROFLOL:
Sometimes we watch a different Disney flick each night for the week or so til we leave. Break out the scrap books. We leave in 15 days...bought this years scap book materials today. These help me keep my mind off things.

I agree. I'm so glad we moved out of S.FL. back in 97. The only down side is the 19 hour drive now versus the 3 hour drive to my "home" WDW. :(

I would say enjoy the moment because before you know it you'll be looking back and saying, Gosh we had a great time. We are presently in countdown mode to going to the beach in North Carolina. Leaving in 6 days and so its all were talking about. I try to busy myself doing things and not think about it so much. Its hard but it always seems to me once the day arrives and you leave to go on your trip the rest of the days follow along in quick succession and before you know it.............your home again. Have a great trip.

Thanks everyone for your tips :wave:and for letting me know I'm not the only 'crazy' out there haha! I'm now incredibly excited about walking under the train station and seeing THE castle <3

Only 8 days to go woohoo! I've found a distraction to keep me going for the next few days...I've booked my theory test for my driving licence so I should probably spend some time studying for that haha! Just a shame I forgot about it until yesterday eeek!
