What did you do?

Are there any ultras that don't involve mud or rocks? Just asking, I'm not even thinking about it. :)

We have one around me that is nothing like what these guys do. A 7.5 mile stretch, about 1 mile of rocky hiking trails, nothing terrible, just enough to make you think, and then the other 6.5 are pretty flat rail trail. You sign up for increment of 15mi (out and back), so 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, or 100. 190ish people did 30 or more last year.

Speed work last night. We started @JillC LI 's speed training program over again because we missed a couple runs. Hopefully we can get things back on track! We did a mile warm-up followed by 6 x 400m with a 400m RI. I was a little slower than the first time we did this workout but only by a few seconds each rep. Not too bad. Weather is finally getting better!

Yes, there is one held in Central Park two weeks after the marathon. Its the NYC 60k. 9 times around a 4 mile loop of the park drive (asphalt) with a little extra added in. Running that same loop 2-3 times is mentally draining enough for me. I can not imagine 9 times around on a pitched roadway, one leg might be a bit shorter after the race.

Yesterday easy 4.60 mile run home in 43:21.
Today another easy run around the park 4.63 in 40:30.

I have a 10k on Saturday that I am trying to save my legs for but seeing that spring has sprung my lungs may not agree (working in a park and being allergic to certain tree pollens is a terrible combination)

I've been fighting off a head cold all week and today I officially lost the battle, but the 50 degree weather enticed me to run 4 miles, sick or not. Decent pace for me too, even when healthy! 9:44. Gotta get some rest now 'cause I feel miserable. :-(

Just under 30 miles. Lots of climbing, hand over hand, technical descents, trudging through mud and bushwhacking through pickers.
No one will kick your for you ;-)

It sure was gorgeous today, Beth. I am finally feeling 90% healthy, and I ran 9.2 miles at 9:50 pace which is close to my PR pace for that distance. Nice. Think I'll officially register for that local Half in early May. Oh, and I officially registered myself, DH and DD for the sprint tri relay in August! So psyched.

Athens GA Chick-fil-a half in the bag. New PR, 2:09. I was feeling so good I thought about the 2-hour mark but shut that down. Maybe next year. They did a great job with this race. Weather was perfect, in the 50's, and the dogwoods were in full bloom. Had to rinse the pollen off my car when I got home. Got to run through The University of Georgia campus and even through a concourse in Sanford Stadium overlooking the field. Got to see the hedges. I'm impressed with Athens. Looks like a fun town.

Ever finished a race inside a building? I wear transition sports sunglasses and it got real dark once inside.

Oh, and chicken biscuit included at the finish. :D

Good running this weekend. Did a 4 mile tempo run on Saturday and an 8 miler today. The 8 miles was a little slower than usual I think because we kind of ran pretty hard on Saturday. Beautiful weather!
