I hear ya. I'm dragging this pair out longer than I perhaps should as I only have one pair left, then I need to go find a new style. Think it's been 3 years since I last checked out new shoes, I ended up with 9-10 pairs of my current model. Stocked up at the sales, got some amazingly awesome/hideous colorways that way.

Different color on each foot? :D

Update on elbow... no surgery needed, unless I fall again. Surgeon told me I can resume the gym... lower body, core (I hate core), right arm. Yippee!! Just no weight bearing or anything with my left arm. Said to stop wearing the sling, unless I need it for comfort, and to start trying to straighten my left arm several times a day to prevent a permanently bent elbow. Apparently adult elbows heal differently than kids, so if I want to be able to fully extend my left arm, I need to work on it. This guy was the best I've seen since the injury and I didn't walk out of his office thinking I'm going to have permanently diminished use of my arm. I was able to touch my nose with my left arm. And my severely sprained wrist should be better in a week.

Oh, the little things that give us joy.... :)

Good luck to everyone dealing with injuries. You all sound positive!

Another points 5K this morning. New age group is way too competitive. ;) Finished 4th again. But I'm way ahead in the points series for my age group and second overall. :)

Skipping next weekend to brave the crowds at WDW. Got FPs for the Soarin' over California farewell, night safari and Jungle Book. Planning a half day in Disney Springs to eat everything in sight. :D

Usually I just go into runDisney with very little running, and do very, very well. And they always say imagine how much better if I trained just a little bit.

Well now I am. I am participating in Galloway's Dumbo Double Dare Training Program for experienced runners. I am finishing up week 3, so this morning I had a 5 miler, which I did along our boardwalk here. It felt great. And I am really enjoying this training program, it seems like just enough without being way overboard.

Good luck to all runners.

Sat was DS and me day, so I signed up for a random local 5k. Little did I know there was a 16 story hill (according to my phone) about 1/3 of a mile in. That was fun with a stroller, let me tell you. My quads were on fire yesterday after that little jaunt. But we had fun together. Yesterday was a split workout. 4@2i, then 5m in 21mins on bike, then 3@2i, pace on the runs started at 8, neg splits on the mile. Today was bike. Still stiff from those hills.

Update on elbow... no surgery needed, unless I fall again.

Glad to hear it.

1.25 miles outdoors with the pup plus another workout on the TM doing sideways exercises Saturday. Then a 5 mile hike along the beach with DH for his birthday yesterday which was so lovely because there wasn't a soul around and it was so peaceful and beautiful.

Congrats on the placing. Right now, I'd be happy if I could finish 4th in a baby diaper race....

Have a question for y'all. Once I'm better (didn't know that having only one usable arm would be so exhausting; but that right arm is getting quite a workout). Especially want to know your thoughts @Texas84, since you are a fellow Southerner and know what running in the heat and humidity of the South is like. I'm going to use Galloway's training program for the Wine & Dine Half since this will be my first half. The 2016 schedule isn't available yet, but I looked at last year's and his 19 week program starts in July. Even if you run in the morning, it's going to be in the upper 70s/low 80s shortly after daylight. And humid.

What do you guys do for hydration during longer training runs? If I've asked this before, I apologize for being redundant, but I'm going to blame it on the pain meds. ;) I've got a camelbak, but wonder how comfortable (and heavy) it would be to wear for 8+ mile runs. My bigger problem is finding a route to run the longer distances that isn't a trail....

Thanks. Y'all are awesome and inspiring!

Some people swear by Camelbaks, others prefer a hydration vest (same concept, less backpack style), others like Fuel Belts, and still others just stash water on their route. I'm not a big fan of my Camelback for running, I find it bounces a bit too much, and I run way too hot to use a vest, even in cold temps. Normally I'll use a Fuel Belt, or stash a bottle on my run, depends on where I am going and how long. I just can't bring myself to drink more than I can carry in the Fuel Belt, even on 20+ mile training runs, so I don't bother with anything larger. Stick a few bucks in a pocket somewhere and know where a convenience store is if something goes terribly wrong and you need more water.

Just plan on slowing down if it's hot out. Sunglasses, sunblock and maybe a hat are key. Go as early/late as you possibly can, maybe even grab a headlamp/reflective vest and go when it is still dark out. But if it's going to be that hot and I need to do a long run, treadmill it is. 80+ I will usually max out at 10-13 miles outside, anything longer will be at the gym.
