Hello all! Been off the radar for a bit after my race last week, didn't hit my PR goal but came away with a solid half effort at 1:47 (aiming for sub 1:45). I went out with a pacer who was running faster than pace the first 6 miles - I didn't realize this until I looked at my watch to see a 7:40 pace when we were supposed to be running 8:00's.
I can't blame the pacer for my finish but have learned that I am definitely not a fast starter and should run my race the next time. Once I realized that my PR chances were shot I got over myself and started having lots of fun, high fiving everyone with their hand out and smiling as much as possible, because if its not fun, then what's the point?
I ran a few miles the next day while still in Buffalo and then have done nothing since then. Its not that I haven't wanted to run but the weather here has sucked (hot and humid, late July weather) and I have been walking a lot (6-10 miles a day).
I am going to be focusing on some overall strength stuff until marathon training picks up towards the end of this month. Not to say that I won't be running at all but trying to focus on the stuff that usually falls to the side when running gets kicked up a notch.
