What did you do?

4.2 miles at 8:29 pace for speed day, it's the fastest I've gone in a while. I'm not sure if it was pure luck, the warm weather, or the new shoes :)

My 5K PR is at 8:38 pace, so I'm impressed!

This morning, 3.5 miles of interval speed work. It's getting nice outside again. Hoping to see most of the snow melted by this weekend (except for the enormous piles the plows created.

A few mild runs this week. About 75% of what the schedule calls for. I guess Im only 25% tapering for this weekend.

I never thought Id say a 50k trail run to the highest point in Alabama would be a training run for something bigger. Happy Thursday. I know people think Alabama is flat, but the blue ridge comes on down into our state quite nicely.

Finished my 3-4-3 week with AM temps in the high 50's. Nice. Catching a plane for my hometown in South Texas tomorrow for vacation with family. Running the Jalapeño 100 10K Saturday with my running cousin. Need to get her a F&W corral qualifier.

Haven't been on for a while, but I have gotten a couple of runs in between our horrible weather. Yesterday, I had a really nice run at work on the lonely pine barren roads. It was really neat to have a group of swans cheering me on as I passed one of the cranberry bogs. They were whooping it up out there and it really did sound like they were cheering me. :) My sis, Dan and I made it into the Broad Street 10 miler in Philadelphia again. They switched to a lottery last year so thankfully we got in. I hope to get a good time this year to use as my corral placement for Wine and Dine.

22.1 miles at 10:07 pace, I'm thinking I need to add some time to my finish time goal or 4:20 for my first marathon in 4 weeks. Actually, what I'm really hoping is that what I've heard about hills on the course is a bit exaggerated, that I've over trained hills, and that the actual race will be easier than what I've trained for. Probably wishful thinking on my part....

I think I jinxed myself when I signed up for an actual race. My stiff knee got worse and I took last week off because I had to. Was going to run today and try and get some running in so as to wing for next weekend but now I am not sure I will be able to go to work on Monday let alone run next weekend. I was at work last night and something popped and now I can barely walk, my knee will not bend fully and when I put weight on it I get a shot of pain that shoots to my foot and back up to my butt, even at rest my leg throbs from the knee down, I am so upset it is beyond belief.

@bethram you are ready girl!

@Mr mom, so very sorry about your knee. RICE (rest ice compression and elevation). There will be other races, but my heart goes out to you and I empathize with your frustration. Feel better.

Wow. Nice pace for that distance.

Jalepeno 100 10K in my hometown, Harlingen Texas. Was going for my first sub-60 minute 10K. Felt great but finished at 1:04. My Garmin freaked out and couldn't pace. Really disappointed. But then found out they messed up again this year and it was actually 7 miles! Then went back and ran the last mile with cousin Brandi.

Such a bummer...I have been there with an injury just before a race. It really stinks to work so hard and than not be at your best. Good luck trying to rest it. And while I would never openly recommend to anyone that they run on an injury, I will say; do not underestimate the pain squashing power of adrenaline.

14 miles at a 9:24/mile pace. Had to get my last long run in before vacation next week. Beautiful day to run and the park was packed with all the running hibernators back out and at it.

Beth - I always run soooo much slower in long runs and I am sure you do the same thing. You don't physically or mentally prepare the same way for a training run than you do for a race. Races tend to bring out your best, be positive, you can do it!

@Mr mom I hope there is nothing serious going on with your knee and rest and ice will help!

@Texas84 if it was actually 7 miles, that means you made your goal of a sub 60 10k, just not a sub 60 7 mile run :D

@LindsayLoves I'm hoping for some race magic and that I make my goal time!

@JillC LI I hope I'm ready, but I'm shooting for a 24 mile run in two weeks just to make sure.

Ran 2.85 miles Thursday through the concrete jungle that is Downtown Memphis in a little over 30 minutes in low 60s temps. Felt okay to start the run but was laboring. Still felt good to complete it.

Saturday took advantage of a mid-60s sunny afternoon with a 4.65 mile run that was a combination of runs through Downtown Memphis I have done in the past. A lot of people downtown for the U of Memphis-Temple game, which I did attend later after the run. Stopped a few times on the route for water breaks. Finished in about 50 minutes or so. Felt good.

tip of the day: No pain no gain , push your self to the limit to achieve new goals!.. with that said a warm 69 degrees , started out walking with Mom , for about .85 of my run today which powered me to a sluggish , but satisfied new bench mark of 8.22 with a pace of 13.22 , I wasn't worried about pace today as I try to push my goal of miles up every week on sundays! .. but my mile pace was 4.48!

I opted not to run this morning as my knee is still sore from Saturday's run and I figured it's best not to push it if every step already hurts some. Hopefully tomorrow.

@bethram - You will do great in your first marathon! Since it is your first one, any finish is a PR right? :D Hope your knee is ok and it is better to rest and give it some time to recover. I may have missed it, but when is your marathon?
@Mr mom - Oh no! I hope you recover quickly! That really stinks when you are looking forward to an event and then have an injury.

As for me, the hubby and me took advantage of the nice weather and did our "country" block loop from our house. It is about 5.75 miles which is the longest I have run since November I think. We were a bit slower than usual but finished with negative splits so I was happy. The cold returns today with possible snow on Wed. Yuck!

@joel_maxwell here you go I found this pic of you from my running group in Hunstville at cheaha!
Nice. I missed that one. Those guys hide themselves well, then would pop out from behind a tree or something. Like Ninjas.
