What Curse???

Actually, this is bad for the Red Sox... They no longer have a "Curse" to use as an excuse... Now, everyone knows that they're just bad when it takes them another 80 years to win another world series ;)

While I'm a die-hard Yankees fan, the Red Sox did do a good job... So, good for them... But, Yankees in '05...
WHAT? Varitek's a free agent. If he leaves..."Curse of Varitek"! Bostonians will make up ANYTHING for an excuse.

So... what do you call 25 guys watching the World Series?

The NY Yankees!!!

   :sohappy:

Am I the only who thought the Cards looked like they "gave up?" I thought they would have done better and would have been a challenge for us.

Ok, I went into the city last night...and booked it as soon as the last out was made.

This is really something and I still can't believe it actually happened. (BTW Rob, Manny and Schilling are going to WDW)

Going to my first Red Sox game when I was just 3 years old (one of my earliest memories)...I didn't even care about the World Series. Heck, I didn't even KNOW what the World Series was. I just knew that the Red Sox were "my team." I knew of the Red Sox as something you go to see with your dad or uncle.

Later on, the Red Sox phenomenon takes on a life of its own. It's not just going to a baseball game. It's going to see a bunch of guys that you love, you worry about, and you stand behind no matter how bad it is.

Then...you witness the fall of the Red Sox...to the "evil empire" (yes, that gets drilled into your head at a VERY young age  ). You cheer for them...and every year...YEAR AFTER LONG YEAR...the Red Sox would get our hopes up, but it was as if some "force" wasn't ALLOWING them to complete the quest.

My grandparents were huge Red Sox fans and we'd sit down and watch them night after night. Did it matter if they won or lost? No, not really...of course, it was happier around the house when they did :D My grandparents have since past...and they never got to see this. NOT ONCE. Let down after let down. If the Red Sox don't do it again in my entire lifetime, at least I won't be able to say that I never saw them go the distance. I will never forget being there in that electricity. I will never forget the tears of joy that I shed. I will never forget everyone counting them out and them making history by streaking in the playoffs to win 8 games in a row (4 of which were elimination games to their biggest rivals).

I have come up with a slogan for this year...

"A team of idiots...destined...to be a team of champions"

I would just like to thank the Red Sox for giving this to us. It wasn't for the team...it was for all of Boston and it's fans. The Yankees/Red Sox rival is not equivalent to a hammer and a nail anymore. Everyone asking..."What do they have left?" Well, now the rivalry is evening up. It's not smaller now...if anything, it's greater! We now know that it can be done.

As for curse...eh, who knows if there was one or not. It certainly seemed like it, but all is forgotten now. Going into important games won't be a sea of "1918" posters.

I don't think Terry Francona thought there was a curse...If he did, would he have played these two in the outfield with these numbers?

Brian--you know I'm not a Sox fan, but I'm extremely happy for you. You are a most gracious winner and a gracious loser, but this time you're on top--with class. Good for you; enjoy the feeling, it's great!

Thanks man...I just wish everyone could feel what the atmosphere is like up here. Sure, I'm sitting behind a desk...in an office...with the flourescent lights and ceiling tiles. But I wouldn't want to be anywhere else...than Boston, MA.

Grown men crying...hugging complete strangers...HECK...even the traffic was easy...and people are letting you go...instead of cutting you off!!!

I'm just glad no cars got turned over, fires started, or people hurt last night. Kudos to the Boston Police Department for keeping order so that everyone had a safe, fun, and exciting time.

What curse?

Now that the Sox have won, I'm gonna predict that the Eagles win the Super Bowl, the Bruins or Maple Leafs win the Stanley Cup (if they play this year), and Sacramento wins the NBA Championship. All of these teams are overdue.

Our Papi, Who art in Fenway
Hallowed by thy team.
Thou kicketh @$$,
On Yankee grass,
And at home, as you did in the Bronx.

Give us this year our shiny rings,
And forgive us our talk of curses,
As we forgive those who talk of curses against us.

And lead us not into extra innings,
But deliver us from choking.

For thou art the Schilling,
And the Pedro,
And the D-Lowe,
For ever and ever.

Damon.

Wow I was worried the crime rate might go up in Boston, since it was madness when they won the ALCS. Anyway, I'm so glad that Sox fans like you get to experience this. Must be a great feeling!! Congrats again!!! :sohappy:
