i do to.. but not at the cost of my job. I feel the WDW should follow Sea World's lead and offer free admission to Police, Firefighters, and EMT/Paramedics. As well as offer substantial deals to FL residents.

I think if the parks had a big advertising campaign for the months of November, December, January, February and March, (excluding Holiday weeks of course) and charged HALF PRICE to get in they would be flooded with people coming to the parks.

They would make plenty of money off of parking and food vending and Souvenir shops. My wife and I usuually spend about $800 bucks every time we go on this stuff.

Disney needs to realize that you need to spend money to make money.

Cutting back entertainment isn't helping any either....it's just ing people off (Sorry..I swore for emphasis..hope I didn't offend anyone)

Drastic times call for drastic measures...Disney could afford to lose a little money to make some...and if they don't do something quick to draw people into the parks, ...well..I don't even want to THINK about that. :lookaroun

Jay.....
this is one of the things thats been troubling me...i hear about the slowdown....the cutbacks....the layoffs....but i don't see a significant effort to attract people to the parks...
...Disney has continued to raise prices above the inflation rate, even as the economy went south....

they need to lower gate prices dramatically....offer significant deals in their hotel packages ....etc etc...
the parks, hotels, and services have fixed expenses every day no matter how many people show....so you may as well fill the hotels and parks with people paying discounted rates. It appears Disney has opted to ride out the slowdown by cutting costs, reduce hours, layoffs, etc etc.

ya gotta make it so attractive that people will look at it as a chance in a lifetime to make that trip to Disneyworld even in these hard times....Seems to me, that Disney is missing a terrific public relations opportunity as a great American icon...

ya know....i bet if Walt was still alive, he'd be the first to say that it was his patriotic duty to ease the burden on people during this crisis.

I think Universal made the right move by lowering their hotel rates for the interim...Hard Rock @ $99/night, Portofino package works out to $125/night. If I could get into a deluxe Disney hotel for $125/night I'd be there tomorrow! (maybe I'll give them a call)

Tramp's right...make people an offer they can't refuse. Get them up and travelling again, and take everyone's mind off of their problems for a little while...that's what Disney is all about!

Tramp and Marcia are right on the money. Make me an offer I can't refuse. The ticket prices are what's stopping us right now from taking a family vacation. $1000.00 just to get in the gate is what it would cost us. Now let's add in hotel, food and drink, and a little spending money. If Disney offered a buy three days get one free or something on that line they might see folks like us try to get down there. Or three nites get one free at a hotel (any). I feel they have taken easy way out with layoffs and shortend hours. Disneyland has taken the same approach at least this week. The park is empty and alot of the restaurants are closed.

They should start a joint campaign with the transportation industry. Maybe offer package deals. It still falls under the make them an offer they can't refuse idea, but if they want to fill the hotels they need to get people to travel.
