What are your "waiting in line" pet peeves?

Ok, to be totally gross, we were on line for a water slide at one of the water parks some time ago and a mother with her kids were near us. One of the kids needed a bathroom break, and mom to everyone's delight said she wasn't losing her spot on line, so she told the son to relieve himself right where he stood (she said out loud something like "it's a water park anyway"). Well, the kid did just what mom said. So, in my book bad (idiot) parenting is one of my biggest pet peeves!

I actually feel most uncomfortable in lines with parents who are berating their children. Even more than being in line with children who roam free! One time, we were in line for FOLK and this little boy (probably around 5 or 6) picked up a sweater that had fallen off of another guest's waist. He picked it up and started to walk it to the girl and his dad ripped it out of his hands, threw the sweater OUT of the line, and screamed, "YOU STAND NEXT TO ME, YOU DO NOTHING ELSE!"

Mine is kids watching movies on iPads/iPhones. Not only does it hold up the line, but aren't Disney queues entertaining enough?
People trying to sneak to the front of the line....

This just happened last week, My daughter and husband and myself were waiting in a longggggg line for stitch. Two teenage boys tried to cut a really big line to get first. A man behind us caught them and told them to get back in their place in line. Everyone in the line heard him telling them to get back and starting clapping and yelling Yeah...... That guy was considered a hero that day, and the boys were totally embarassed!!!!!!!!
I was going to say that this was strange...until I saw this was posted in 2005, just right after it opened. This is why it's a bad idea to bump threads. Some people could read these things as stuff that happened recently.

I Saw a little girl watching an episode of Elena of Avalor on her mom's phone, while I was waiting to meet Joy and Sadness at Epcot, and I didn't care, I was ahead of them anyways.

Line cutters. And people who constantly stand next to me, or slightly diagonally in front of me, sorta not cutting in front but not without at least the appearance of not being averse to some cutting should the opportunity arise.

Other than that, you do whatever makes you happy, we're all bored and waiting or grumpy or tired. :)

Spread your arms out and grasp the bar on either side of you.

For me, the biggest annoyance is when the people in line behind you are literally right on your heels to the point where you can't even turn around. I've had my shoe pulled off on several occasions.I understand the keeping up with the line thing, but that's a little too much for me.

don't know if this has been posted, but: people who assume that filling in every gap in the line will actually get them on the ride faster, and get irritated when people don't move up right away.

Unless you are literally the next person to ride, someone not moving up a few feet in line has absolutely no affect on your wait time.
We've stood in lines like this where the cast member has told us to scoot together like packed sardines. Like filling in the "dead space" at Haunted Mansion.

Crowders - those people that will practically stand on your heels like they're going to get through the line faster that way. I REALLY hate being touched so that already irritating thing aggravates me a lot.

I've actually in all my years never seen a line cutter in Disney. There was one time where dad and small child left the line for a bathroom break and so sort of cut by everyone to get back to their place with mom, but this was Toy Story and the line hadn't even moved out of the first room of the queue yet.

On that same trip in PoTC there was this family that had a 10 year old or so boy, and he was literally climbing up the stuff in the queue. You know those sort of cage-looking things they have on the walls? He would climb up those, hang off them. And nobody said anything! And the people I was with were just like "Oh he's just testing his boundaries." Yeah, by literally climbing on things and potentially damaging them! And I'm sure if something has broken and he's gotten hurt, this would've been a lawsuit.

So that's another pet peeve - unruly children who are potentially damaging the decor while their parents do nothing about it and nobody else says anything. In my defense, I had actually lost my voice and couldn't say anything myself.

But I don't get why people think that's okay to just climb all over stuff. It's not a playground. You don't go to people's houses and climb on their wall decorations.

Preach! As a parent, nothing drives me more crazy than seeing kids doing stuff like that. It's not that hard to keep your kids under control. I knew I was doing a good job with my kids during our first trip in 2012 when there were some kids climbing all over something in a line and my oldest just pulls me aside (he was 8 at the time) and say "those kids aren't behaving very well, daddy. I would never do that!" Both of my boys actually get a kick out of seeing kids doing stuff that they consider "naughty" and pointing it out to me.

Think for yourselfer
Seems like the thing most people seem to hate most about being in line, is, being near people. Delightful group, you lot.

I know I've shared this story before, but it's worth repeating. Years ago, when we were in quite a long line for Buzz Lightyear a woman and her old-enough-to-know-better son were in front of us. The boy was climbing over everything, and his mother just kept "threatening" him in a whiney voice. By the time we finally got to board the ride, we had had it with both of them. So as soon as my lazer was turned on we shot at both of them, starting with her. We didn't score many points but it sure felt good! :hilarious:
I suppose that's why we have gun laws....

My in-line pet peeves are: (1) people who use profanity loudly enough for the captive audience all around them to hear (it doesn't bother me if it's an adult crowd, but when there are small children within earshot, that's just inappropriate); (2) people who cut in line; and (3) people who stand too closely behind me, or who are looking down at their phone and not paying attention, and bang into my backside every time the line moves forward. (Really, buy me a ring first if you want to do that!)

Badly-behaved children are an annoyance, but they're everywhere at WDW (and the world in general), so it's not something that bothers me particularly, unless of course the kids are the ones engaging in any of the behaviors listed above. Also, I actually enjoy it when strangers strike up a conversation with me in line -- we've met people from all over the world at WDW and it's a part of travel that I really enjoy -- so that wouldn't be on my list of pet peeves.
