What are some of the worst immersive lands?

I have three that for me are equally as bad as each other...

Firstly Epcot's Future World is like a baron and boring grey scale concoction of sharp edged unappealing facades and when I am there I don't feel anything futuristic at all. I know that this is mainly due to the powers that be basically devouring the very essence of what this land used to be. Don't get me wrong I am looking forward to Guardians because I think Epcot needs more rides and I am a fan of the MCU and the original comics.

My second entry and this will probably surprise or annoy some but I just don't feel immersed in Fantasyland in MK. For me although I think each attraction is very well made and I can obviously see the appeal I just don't feel immersed in it. I just think it is an area where basically Disney have just stuffed a load of movies. The individual attractions themes and detail are great such as The Little Mermaid and Seven Dwarves but I don't feel the linkage compared to of the other lands across the parks. BACKLASH PENDING...

Thirdly I would say Dinoland, I know I slate it quite a lot but when I think of Disney I think special, I think relevance and I think attention to detail. I love the Dinosaur ride it is honestly a must ride for me, but the land as a whole is shockingly poor. What on earth where they thinking when they went for the funfair theme. They could make it so much more immersive and they really have the ability to make it both fun and educational but instead they went for a fun but basic coaster and then things I have had at my village fair and I live in a pretty small village. Rant over.

Peace and love.

They painted themselves into a corner when the studio was built. It was designed around the idea that it would be a working studio and, at the time, they didn't see those circumstances ever changing. Unfortunately, they changed rather quickly.

Good explanation. I kinda chuckle at the 'this is not how Walt intended it' crowd. Things change. For the most part, Disney does a pretty good job of staying current. If Disney didn't change some things, interest would wane quickly. Epcot is not at all what Walt intended and it's a fun park.

I mean, Fantasyland is right next to Liberty Square and, until they installed the Tower of Toilets, they were able to design the "hand-off" pretty well. It's possible to create effective transitions between two disparate themes. I kind of side with you, though, that I don't think that Disney is even bothering to try with GE and TSL.

For me, it's not even the "transition" that is so different between them, but the execution. In spite of how "well done" it is for what it is, TSL just isn't anywhere near the immersive and themed as Galaxy's Edge is going to be. I was talking more in lines of - I wish their long-term plan was to do the entire park up to GE's level, but I have doubts since they just finished TSL and it isn't even in the same league.

Very true. TSL was a quick band-aid. Some of the theming details are clever, but it's about on the level of what you used to see in places like Kings Island back in the day. Maybe a little better. Certainly not something where ever detail was given attention.

I'm still hopeful for SW:GE, though. They seem to be putting more effort into it.

Let's face it, at least for the foreseeable future, the rest of DHS is pretty much going to be the Gateway to Galaxy's Edge. It's what you go through to get where you're going.

Yeah, I am careful in my criticism of TSL. I know it isn't there for me, and I am very happy for a section in the park that appeals to the younger set.

They also do have some really neat little touches - some of the diagrams for toy assembly in the queue for the coaster, for example.

But it just isn't anything impressive at all, and it just feels really weird in the studios in general to me.

Right now we just need to be patient. There is a lot more planned for DHS in what's called "phase 2" (after 2020). Many of the shows will go, the Launch Bay will be completely changed etc. They just wait for SW:GE to open and then other projects across the parks will be greenlit.

But I agree that HS is in a really weird situation right now. You have a Hollywood Boulevard on one side of the park and on the other side there is a land where you become a toy. Not a good combination. We just have to Wait & See :)

Yeah, Star Wars lets me forgive a lot. I just have a hard time seeing what this park looks like in ten years.

I love Future World and its one of my favorite areas and I think its fine ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You do know we are talking about the grounds, architecture, layouts and such, right?......not rides, shows and offerings.

Future World is one spread out, sun drenched, flat as Miley, boring collection of buildings. Not one fountain/water feature, building or its facade moves me. The geosphere made sense the first 25 years and Mission Space frontage does the job but nothing else is up to other typical Disney environments.......just too barren and remote, I say.

That's exactly what Future World was in its initial years. It was all about, "Here's how far we've come, here's the cool things we can do today, and here are the possibilities for the future." It took what could have been dry information and made it fun and interesting. The problem was the expense of keeping it current wasn't something Disney was willing or able to shoulder, so over the years it eventually became out of date. After a while, people began to make jokes about it and Disney was able to say, "See? People don't want this kind of park. The want more action and less learning!" That snowballed until we've ended up with today's Future World. We have two attractions that are fairly similar to their original incarnations and the rest have been completely overhauled, demolished, or simply shut down and used for festival space. The former Communicore buildings are like unsightly warts at this point. I guess you could say that Future World is "rotten to the core." I'll show myself out.
Awe......its sad but true.

Yes and I love the look, like the arches going in, the people mover snaking through the rides, the look of the rocket ship on top of the people mover

Lord Vader, I thought we were talking about Future World of Epcot

......but you are describing Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom.

Tomorrowland's grounds overall environment is OK with me.....not great but certainly not that wasteland of Future World either.
