What are my chances?

I have waited until the very last minute to book a trip from July 13-17th, because my job has just agreed to pay for my hotel room (I will be attending Kagan seminars while I'm there). Well, OBVIOUSLY all the Values are booked up, and I can't afford to cover the cost difference between a value and a moderate. What are my chances that someone will cancel and I'll be able to book at one of the values between now and then? I called WDW Reservations and the lady told me over the phone that my chances weren't very good. Has anyone else had luck with this? Or am I basically SOL here? Any insight or advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

unfortunately, in my experience its not looking very good. However...I recommend checking out mousesavers for the downtown disney hotels....they tend to have some really good rates and mousesavers often offers discounts. I think Allearsnet.com sometimes does as well.

Good luck.

I believe any cancellations will be programed in the computer that night & the availability will show up the next morning. so call every night & then every morning & pray something becomes available. Keep it up everyday. You may even get to know some of the reservationists.

Just keep calling WDW & checking - you never know when an opening will be available.

Also remember you can split up your nights between hotels - see if you can do one or two nights at Pop, then one or two at All Star Music, etc. Even if you have to change rooms every night, so what? It's only four nights. You will not get a discount for booking more than one night, so call them and say you want to stay at X on the 13th, X on the 14th, etc. Also, you could always try one night at a mod and eat the difference - since it's just for one night, it might not be too bad.

Check expedia, travelocity, and other such travel agencies that get blocs of rooms. Also, I would recommend checking the wdw website as well as calling, sometimes they are different.

PigletIsMyCat has the right idea. Get your reservations at any value you can. Once you are down there your chances of being able to stay in the room you got for all four nights go up greatly.

From things that I have read in travel magazines etc. it is rare that any hotel is truly 100% booked. The hotel mgr. wants you to stay and wants to keep their hotel as full as possible. So as long as you have room somewhere take the chance.

Another option is to call a larger travel agency that deals with Disney a lot. They may be able to get you a room.

Good Luck!!!

This is true and false. All Stars were booked to something like 99.8% capacity. This means technically there is room somewhere, but they probably won't be able to accomodate a walk in, because of the way the reservations are made - for days at a time. For those X days of this reservation, the same room is out of commission. Not just A room, but the same room. This happens over and over again and they overlap and they'll show no availability for four nights.

If you were to have to change rooms, you would have to check out by 11am and store your bags with baggage at your new resort, and wouldn't be able to check in until after 3pm. If you stayed at All Stars, and had to move to a new All Star resort, usually Security will transport you and your baggage to your new resort.

If you have your own car, trying to stay off property (:hurl: imho) might make sense too. The DTD area resorts are nice, and there are some other options (Marriot by World Drive, the billions of holes in the wall on 192) off property. You won't be immersed in Disney Magic, but since someone else is footing the bill, take what you can!

I sent you an email, but I figured I would post also. I found a room for you at All Star Sports through the Disney Travel Agent website. If you are interested in it let me know.
