What about Epcot?...it's been 7 years since a new attraction?

I like the fact that the World Showcase focuses on atmosphere rather than rides in each country (exceptions--Mexico and Norway boat rides). WS is a relaxing place to visit and enjoy, a place where you can meander along the various entertainment offered, notice the amazing details of each country, and shop and snack at a leisurely pace. Not everything has to be an e-ticket thrill. That said, I think it's time for a new country or two to join the World Showcase. I always thought that Greece or India would be good choices--fascinating cultures/histories and yummy food in both places.

SSE is a classic! I'm glad it remains a dark ride for all ages. Future World could use some love, though.

Epcot isn't about thrill rides. In fact, WDW itself tries to focus on attractions that whole families can enjoy together. That was what inspired Walt to build Disneyland--he wanted a place that appeals to all ages and where parents and kids can experience a theme park together. WDW does offer some thrills, but if thrill rides are at the top of a family's list maybe Universal, Six Flags, etc. should be their destination. WDW = attractions aimed at everyone from toddler to grandma and a magical atmosphere that immerses the guests into each unique section of the parks.

They desperately need to do something with the Wonders of Life Building. Put in a Wall-E attraction (Hey it takes place in the future at least unlike Nemo so it fits) or something. Anything really. The front of the park just seems too empty.

World Showcase though is fine how it is.

I posted a month or two ago about bringing in a Wall-E attraction. It's futuristic, so it would fit nicely with the theme. Riders could be placed into a car/technology similar to Spiderman or Transformers at US. You'd join Wall-E, begin recycling (nice PC theme) then begin getting chased by the other robots trying to capture him.

I think a perfect place for Wall-E would be a new 3-D movie at Epcot. It's a good fit with Future World. I like your concept of recycling and being chased!

On a visit this summer, FW was a joke with TT closed. I pass on MS:Make Me Puke, JII is a shell of it's former self. What happened to the post ride area(not even thinking about the old upstairs playground)? UoE is really dated, and SSE descent is flat out embarrassing. This was on a day when we got there at 1PM, and left before park closing.

WoL should be be bulldozed and a new attraction built from scratch, or retrofit an attraction or two into the existing building...DO IT ASAP. Once done with that, address the other 3 attractions(SSE, JII & UoE) I mentioned above.

I think the biggest problem is that it's called Future World, but there isn't really anything futuristic about it. Walt loved new technology and the company has often been responsible for inventing it. FW definitely needs to go back to it's roots with new and innovative technology. More than any other park, FW definitely needs to be constantly evolving especially if they want to "keep the turnstiles turning." There is so potential with the themes of a lot of the FW attractions - UOE, MS, TT, and WOL to name a few. Even World Showcase needs to be updated more frequently. I love the historical aspects of the countries, but there also needs to current aspects to them too. To me the movies are a perfect way to marry the two, bit most of the movies are very old. I love Epcot and I hope it gets some serious love soon.

SSE needs Jeremy Irons back.

WoL needs to re-open.

Another country wouldn't kill anyone - especially if it had a ride! - but if they'd just fix Future World, it wouldn't be so high on everyone's list of Stuff We Need.

Disney is hell-bent on finding out how little they can offer before enough people stop coming that they aren't making money any longer. I think they are getting close.

I think one problem is that technology is changing faster than we could ever imagine. What is future right now will be old by the time it can be built.

Here's what I'd do for Epcot with a decent budget:

Step 1: Minor triage of existing attractions
• New digital projection and new film for Soarin'
• New film in Norway
• Plussing of the descent part of SSE (I guess I'm in the minority in that I don't really mind the animation segment)
• Add enough to Innoventions that it is worth a couple hours of your time. I'd like to see some type of show added there. Something like Imagineer's Workshop, with live chats.

Step 2: Major triage of existing attractions
• Revamp of Energy (probably need a sponsor to make that happen), at least film new stuff with Ellen and Bill or start over. Dinos can stay; would be fun if they threw in a new dino surprise after you go past the palnt-eaters.
• Imagination needs a completely new ride, and either improve Imageworks or just get rid of it. What about adding a themed restaurant/bar on the second floor, with outside/balcony-deck seating to boot? Of course, like Energy... would be more directed with a new sponsor. I wonder how aggressive Disney is in attempting to lure new sponsors to FW? Not even sure that the 3D theater needs to be there. 3D movies are everywhere now; I'd take that space and use it for the ride, the restaurant or both.

Step 3: New country for WS. Whichever country is added — Brazil, Spain, Australia, Switzerland, India — I'd have the sit-down restaurant look into/over the dark ride that goes inside the pavilion. Some of the more romantic dining experiences have that connection at Epcot, I'd look to further develop that.

So... that's a start.

We do, it's called Mission Space.
I meant a ride that tells the history of mars or the universe. Not just a journey to it. SSE tells where we came from up to where we are today. Mission Space is a motion simulator of space flight. I don't see how it is like SSE in any way. Don't get me wrong, I love MS, but it and SSE are two totally different rides. And I'm not trying to pick a fight, so please dont take this post the wrong way. love and god bless

I think everyone agrees that it isn't necessarily thrill rides that Epcot needs. Heck, even Test Track and Soarin', while classified as "thrill rides", are very tame. Whats needed is more attractions worthy of being at Epcot.

reopen WoL, do a few updates like sort out Figment and EO, don't get rid of SSE, just move it back an update, and leave the architecture alone. it's 'future world' but i like how it's become the future from the 1980's. it's part of it's charm!

I understand what you mean, and that would be cool. I in no way was trying to start a fight. :) I just don't know how we would do that, when we don't know much about it yet.

I think one problem is that technology is changing faster than we could ever imagine. What is future right now will be old by the time it can be built.

Which is why it is such a shame that WoM and Horizons are gone now. WoM provided a history, with a small gap to where we are now. Horizons, for the most part, hasn't happen yet...still could be relevant. The original World of Energy was a tediously boring self promoting 45 minutes of self back patting and like an endless commercial for Exxon. The newer Ellen one, is still, for the most part relevant and it's corny, but funny in many places and so typically Ellen. It is so much better than the original. SSE hasn't changed all that much really. Different people narrating (nothing beats Walter Cronkite) A few updated scenes making it closer to current, but even though the ending is either loved or hated, I found it far more interesting then the nothing that preceded it.

Judging from the lines at Soarin, I'd say that was a good choice, but the loss of the Dreamfinder and Figment should be something that makes the Disney Imagineers go home and cry in their pillows at night. Honey, I shrunk the audience, though dated was fun and the audience participation (involuntarily) was a total hoot. I sure beats putting in that movie staring the once great, but eventually crazy person, Captain EO. (AKA...MJ)

As far as Mission Space is concerned...I will go on record right now and say that, speaking as an old person (64 this year), IT IS AWESOME. I wish it didn't physically replace Horizons, but that is the past and the ride itself, either green or orange is great.

Seas, or presently Nemo...what can I say...if you've seen one aquarium you've seen them all.

WoL was a really nice attraction. I loved Body Wars and the rest but it had stopped being a people grabber, I was expensive to run...it is now history. Test Track (old) was good and very popular as I suspect the new reincarnation will be as well, but again it is too bad it had to physically replace WoM.

I was just in Epcot last week and enjoyed it as always. The rides are always enjoyable and the countries are fun to look around in. But I do agree it needs something new. Not something small either I mean it could use another country or big time attraction.
