What about Epcot?...it's been 7 years since a new attraction?

Call me crazy, but I wasn't that impressed with Mission Space (didn't even realize the ride was over). Would love to see South America get additional representation in the Showcase.
LOL I was being silly and sarcastic. I have never ridden Mission Space bc of motion sickness issues, but I have heard rave reviews of it. I wouldn't know though..

I hear ya...I am sure I am in the minority here, but it is not one of my favorites. I haven't ridden it in many years.

I understand what you mean, and that would be cool. I in no way was trying to start a fight. :) I just don't know how we would do that, when we don't know much about it yet.
Perhaps your right. I was just imagining how sweet it would be if there 2 big golf balls @ Epcot.

I think one problem is that technology is changing faster than we could ever imagine. What is future right now will be old by the time it can be built.

I totally agree. The Innoventions buildings used to showcase new technologies being developed, like online games and new robotics, and I would see new things in there every year I visited. Now, it's just a stagnant museum of sponsored ads, cafeterias, and character meet and greets. I think the best way to handle this problem of super-fast changing technology would be to convert Innoventions into a place that can easily move things in and out in order to bring in exhibits that show guests how technology is evolving and what we could expect to see in the future.

I think that 95% of the attention for Epcot should be directed at FW. WS, in my opinion, should be handled by WDI according to the doctors oath of "Above all do no harm" I love walking my young children through each country and showing them the unique architecture of each nation and the unique stories behind them all. New countries would be welcome and some interior updating is necessary, but PLEASE leave the exteriors alone. The architecture is what truly makes each country unique. Yes, you can buy things from each country that aren't readily available, but the internet has made virtually all products available to anybody in the world. The building exteriors are what sets WS apart from every other theme park in the world. That being said, FW needs alot of work.

SSE needs all of the details repaired. The printing press, the roman rider and the smoke scent should always work. If Imagineer's are to be trusted with several billion $'s to rebuild parks, show effects that can probably be fixed with parts from Home Depot should always be in good repair. Return both the descent and the narration to the last version.

Universe of Energy needs a completely new show. While Ellen my remain relevant, how many people still watch Jeopardy and how many people have any connection to Bill Nye anymore. I personally loved him growing up, but he was barely relevant when this was updated last.

The Land needs an update in the film for Soarin and a replacement movie in the Lion King Theater. The Soarin film looks like it was original to the park when it is only 7 years old. I love the experience, but the film quality reminds you that you are not soarin anywhere but in a taller than normal movie theater. I would love to see the live CM's put back on the boat ride.

Living Seas with Nemo is not going anywhere. I loved the original but I can't deny the popularity that comes with sharks and clownfish. I would just love to see Disney return a little more of the discovery and exploration that used to be a part of this pavilion. When was the last time that any of you saw a CM in the tank testing out a new _____________________? When was the last time your heart raced as you saw somebody in diving gear ascend the tunnel and end up in the tank? I saw this every visit 15 years ago and I think that Nemo and exploration can go hand in hand. Remember that the queue was a museum of exploration before becoming a beach.

Wonders of Life needs a new sponsor and a new life. Perhaps a pavilion that takes guests through some of the greatest discoveries of the last century? The discoveries could be scientific, archaelogical or anthropological. It would be a celebration of human ingenuity while also reminding us to never forget how far we have come in such a short period of time. It could also tie in with SSE and Innoventions. SSE only covers communication while Innoventions would be the next step and show the ingenuity of the human spirit moving forward. I can't imagine it will be that tough to find a sponsor for something with such broad appeal.

Test Track will hopefully emerge from its refurb and be everything we hope for.

Mission Space is a great experience but needs something to tie it to the history of manned space exploration. This has been on mind since Neil Armstrong's death. Perhaps having the cue wind through an area with exhibits of NASA artifacts from the shuttle missions of even back to the Apollo missions. Part of current WDO management's issues stem from an inability to connect the past, present and future. This would solve that problem for at least one attraction.

This brings us to Figment. The poor often lamented Figment. I love the idea of an Imagination Grill on the top floor with a balcony overlooking the lagoon. As for the ride, I think the Imagineer's should let a group of roughly one hundred 3-7 year old's watch a video of the original ride and then design the ride based on their feedback. They are the ones with all of the imagination in the world!!

Just some opinions. Epcot has always been and will always be my favorite park. I have a 5 yo, a 3 yo, a 2yo and a newborn. I could probably spend 4 days in WS just immersing them in the history, culture and architecture of the countries represented. That is an experience unlike any other in the world.

for me, the question is not if but when epcot will get the attention it deserves. And when it does, whats the direction to take? I think I am with the crowd here thinking that the world showcase isnt the issue, but rather the rides and future world itself. So to go a little deeper, I try to consider the scope of what epcot is, and its a glimpse into the future. So what better than a tron ride to represent that? I feel the theming will fight right in to the mission of epcot, it can be an e ticket which will answer the demands of the guests, and it breaths life back into the park.

epcot has a special place in my heart for what it is, and i do hope it gets the attention it needs.

Future World could certainly use a Wall-E theme attraction/show. Maybe he doesn't warrant a ride, but it is future world, it could give the message of keeping the earth clean. Definitely forget about seeing Michael jackson in 3-D and give me some Wall-E & really chubby CGI people any day! Most of the stuff in FW is cool and there is no rush to get anything done since Soarin' is the only ride you need a fast pass for most of the time. I don't see them doing anything in that park cutting edge and brand new for a while...its not a kids park and with Cars Land possibly on the horizon, Avatar world, and Fantasyland Expansion you may have to give them a little credit for what they are doing everywhere else.

They really could use a new country I thought it would be nice if they did a tropical theme

There is no south america theme anywhere in disney world is there? I think you are on to something. Brasil would be my choice and you could have "Carnival" festival every night

They desperately need to do something with the Wonders of Life Building. Put in a Wall-E attraction (Hey it takes place in the future at least unlike Nemo so it fits).
WALL-E is about a distopian future in which the human race has devolved to stupidity and abuse of environment and technology. Not a good fit in a park that is supposed to be preaching the goodness of the human spirit and Mans quest to create a better world. Granted, Epcot seems to be going in the direction of WALL-E most notably with the mess that used to be the emotional finale of Spaceship Earth. If you want a generic futurism theme there is a land in Magic Kingdom for that or at least there used to be now it's more of a Throw Random Pixar Attraction Here Land

The ride could be about the re-building and re-inhabiting the Earth process. That would show the goodness of the human spirit AND would a quest to create a better world. It would have that nice message that all the other pavilions except Space and Test Track try to have. And you can throw in an antagonist by bringing back the evil Sigourney Weaver computer program or have them deal with a mess left behind by Fred Willard (there is a dirty joke in there somewhere).

I would rather not get into the process of theming entire Pavillions to specific franchises. (See Nemo & Friends.)

Fix Imagination with something that builds up on some of that backstory of the original, giving it a more mysterious Irons-era SSE style opening of quotes on creativity or something. Already established Figment and Dreamfinder team at the start collecting stuff and taking you through a new journey. Additionally, either in the attraction or a new 3D movie, have some fun with guest artists (William Joyce and Brian Froud come to mind) and style changes through a Figment and Dreamfinder based variation of Magic Journeys. Repurpose Tapestry of Dreams' Dreamseekers as sidekicks in said 3D film.

Expand Mission Space into a proper pavillion, rework the entrance and queue to give it a proper lobby so you have Mars training and a new darkride experience about the history of Man and Space in the style of the old Man in Space episodes of the Disneyland television show.

Fix Spaceship Earth, replace Judi Dench with another British actor. I'm leaning Patrick Stewart or Ian McKellen and use a script that's less stupid.

Epcot is a park that is about the cultural experience. World Showcase is the interest factor, not the attractions in Future World. attractions aren't what Epcot is supposed to be about. just because some people are more ride/roller coaster buffs doesn't mean a park meant to be more about experience and atmosphere should change just because the select few think it's "boring". the park is fine the way it is, as it is and it really shouldn't change just to seem more interesting attraction-wise. if anything they need to add more culture to it.
