Ok....

I think I am over the jet lag and diversions to get started...

As I posted, we had a disastrous start to the trip. Cancels, weather, rebooks, false rebooks, downgrade in cabin etc....

I wasn't happy obviously but I managed to pull up the boots and get us out to LA well ahead of the game time, instead of arriving right before and changing in the rental...

Here are a few from our day trip to ORD.....

I grabbed a United Club pass for the long wait... We caught the last hour of breakfast and the first hour of lunch...

Just like some Disney buffets in the past...Do they do that anymore??

Liam enjoyed the food and I enjoyed the cherry tomato splash he gave me while eating lunch.... Don't ask...🍅

I needed one of these suitcases after the long wait to board.

Luckily, this was our gate to get us to LAX on a direct flight I mentioned on Wednesday...

The game was awesome, the experience with Liam was even awesomer.... He is now what they call Arsenal fans, "A Gooner"... Arsenal's nickname is the Gunners.

The experience getting out of Sofi Stadium was not awesomer, and it took quite a while to get out...

Liam passed out and I got us back to the hotel, a little later than wanted.

7/27: Disneyland Day!!

Our plan after being up so late was to see how long we slept and if possible, hit the park before our reservation at Goofy's kitchen. Once I woke up, I had a terrible headache and didn't feel well, so I said, we'd start at breakfast and stay as long as we wanted because it was open until midnight.

Liam was good with that so we got ready and headed out. Still not feeling well, I pretty much grinned and bared it the entire ride there and most of the day, for that matter....

We here!!

In keeping with the theme of the Trip report, and having experienced both character breakfasts that are similar, Chef Mickey's and Goofy's Kitchen, I really liked the food selection from Goofy's better. That's not saying that Chef Mick's is worse, just had more variety and different, non common foods... Desserts galore, as I posted!!!

Goofy's was a lot smaller and louder, as a local children's group was in town that morning. Chef Mickey's has the best experience hands down and a venue that can't be beat...

However, being in the nostalgic Disneyland Hotel definitely gives it some style points!!

Characters are a little different, as Chip and Dale are there. No Don, "the Don" and I think Mickey was on a cheese break because we didn't see him.

Overall, a great breakfast and a great time!!!

On to the park!!

I forgot a few shots from the Disneyland Hotel!

Liam was excited to ride Autopia and was excited to see one of the cars here...

"We're in".....

I took these shots from the video and at each point, you can hear Liam say..."it's so small"...

"Yes it is small but Walt built it"...

After grabbing a cap for me, we headed to our first ride, Pinocchio's Daring Journey...

First time for me on this one and I really liked it. Excellent length and scenes, Liam called out the characters with me...

Next up was Liam’s choice, Autopia.

He was anxious to see if he was tall enough to ride by himself, would he?

Yep! He was tall enough so he took his place on #2 and me on 3.

He did well, but a few times he had to stop because he couldn’t push the pedal hard. Leg wasn’t strong enough.

Nevertheless, he dubbed it is “favorite ride of the day”…

Now this is one of the attractions that I think is better than WDW, but I think that boils down to the length of the track. I really like the shade trees and the monorail track has some added flair.

Length and landscape. 1 point for the West.

Next up, I had grabbed a LL for Millennium Falcon and we were going to hit ROTR as it was a decent wait. By the time we got done with MF, the wait for Rise was 80 min. Then at the entrance, it went down.

So I grabbed a ILL for Rise and we headed towards Haunted Mansion. It seemed that it just opened after being down so there was no wait.

Liam really was excited for this one and noticed the differences in the building and the foyer right away. But…he didn’t notice the biggest one until I nudged him in the “stretching room”.

“This is an elevator”…He screamed out and gave a huge giddy laugh. Yes. Yes it is.

Then along the ride track I introduced him to my favorite part, the Hatbox Ghost… Can’t wait to see him at WDW soon.

Nostalgia and elevator. 1 point for the left...
Everything about WDW. 1 point for the right...
