Hi all

So my boyfriend and I were discussing the wonderfulness of the Walt Disney World Welcome sign and he thought it would be fun to pull over and take photos of it.

Has anyone ever done that? Is there a breakdown lane for us to do that?

Thanks!

There are also giant signs that say "Emergency Stopping Only" as everyone wants to do this. You will be cited by OCSO or FHP if caught doing this.

I have nearly been hit by tourists who have decided to do that and cut across 3 lanes of traffic without looking so they can do exactly what you are describing.

They should do what they did in Las Vegas, there is now a parking lot in the middle of the median so you can have your picture taken in front of the famous "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign. There is a person there from the visitors Bureau that will take your picture so everyone is included.

Ohh alrighty we wont do that then
I'd rather not become acquainted with Florida authorities while on our lovely trip.

I'll take the best photo I can from the car while he is driving!

Ooo very nice picture. We'll be taking a rental car so I don't think our shot will be a nice as yours.

The problem there - Thats the Epcot Center Drive entrance - is that there's no breakdown lane and the far right is the merge lane from I-4 Westbound.

There really isn't a safe spot to stop and the lefthand median is a giant swamp usually.

Just go to the sign by Downtown Disney/crossroads area in which you can walk to. Don't be one of the fools that crosses across all lanes of traffic, or slows down while taking pictures from the driver's seat, causing crashes.

Pay no attention to the Emergency Parking Only sign. You're on vacation, breaking the law is completely acceptable!

If you would like a picture in front one of the welcome signs without getting any trouble or hit by a passing car. Try the one that is outside Hotel Lane in DTD. It is not as big and the impact might not be the same but it could work.

If you ask me they should build a little parking lot off the road that would allow access to the Welcome sign, kind of like what Las Vegas did with their famous sign that marks the south side of the Strip.

Hey Dave (or anyone else that can answer), how many entrance signs are their ? I know of 2. This one obviously and the one by the Marketplace, any I've never seen ?

There's a bunch, four that come to mind.

There's one on Western Way. One on World Drive, One on Epcot Center Drive and one at DTD.

There are none coming from any of the back roads into the World.

I won't suggest stopping and taking a picture with the sign, but you do have plenty of time to set up and take the picture from a moving car. You can get a pretty decent shot, particularly if you're in the center lane on World Drive.

The clowns that stop cause way too many problems, don't be counted amongst them...

Also on World Drive, if you follow it south to I-4 you can get a shot of the mickey shaped power pole.

Yep, just have whoever is NOT driving be ready to take a pic and then snap it as you pass under it...not too difficult

Yeah... important safety tip... have a passenger take the picture... We don't need any more morons doing stupid stuff while driving in Florida.
