Week before Thanksgiving or week after???

We decided to go for two weeks in 2010.

One week is Thanksgiving week.

We cannot decide if the other week should be the week before or the week after.

We have APs for Sea World, and their holiday events should be running both weeks.

Also, where would you suggest for Thanksgiving Dinner??

Thanks.

It really won't make much difference on the crowds as you are including Thanksgiving weekend either way. If you were leaving the Sunday prior - I'd say go for it! That week was a ghost town when I was there. The crowds pick up for the following weeks.

Good news is either way the Christmas lights will be up at DHS

Week after. While most of the Christmas stuff will be up the week before it is almost guaranteed that all of it will be up the week after.

I agree with Master Yoda if the holiday decorations are important. As we did last year Thanksgivinig week and the week after. It was not mobbed but it was pretty crowded. Thats a cheap time to go and you get to see the holiday decorations. If xmas decorations are not that important to you I would do the week before and week of. This way you can get all your disney stuf mostly done the week before then hit sea world and what not when the park gets a bit more crowded as you get close to Turkey day.

We ate last year at the whispering canyon on Thanksgiving. It was a really good meal. PLus the atmosphere was great. Liberty Tree would of been my first choice but it was full by the time we planned our trip.

Week after. That's when we are going this year. All the holiday stuff is in full swing. As for Thanksgiving dinner, the one year we were at the MK for Thanksgiving we ate at Crystal Palace.

Next trip: Nov. 29-Dec. 5, POFQ:xmas:

We are planning for the same time next year. And we've been wondering the same thing. We're thinking about arriving on the 16th for 5 or 6 nights. Have never been there that late in the year.

We went end of Nov thru 1st week of Dec and it was great. Crowds thin, weather awsome and Christmas everywhere. My question is I am also thinking of going the Thursday before to Turkey day (can't take kids out of school too much), will we see much Christmas stuff?

I think that this is the time that we are going to go next time, maybe even next year. DH likes to go every other year but when I talked about going for Christmas, he started asking questions. :ROFLOL:We just got back so it's to early to plan it but this time of the year just seems like it would be so magical. :xmas:

I was reading some old post and POR was all booked up in August for that time. I wonder how soon we should book it?

We've been Thanksgiving Week and the week after. The crowds Thanksgiving Week were managable. Actually, not as bad as I expected. But the week after was very nice indeed. Practically no crowds, and the holiday decorations were in full swing.....

Our last trip we actually had turkey in our condo. This year however we're trying dinner at the Dolphin Hotel....

We did Mickey's Backyard BBQ one year on Thanksgiving Day.
There was a special buffet meal under the pavillion with ham, turkey, and lots of other stuff. All you can eat.
A band was there for entertainment and many of the characters were on hand.
After the buffet meal everyone moved outside to the grassy area next to the pavillion where they brought out pies and other deserts and you sat on hay bales to eat.

It was nice.

I'd go the week after. Check the dates and you'll probably be able to attend the Christmas Party. We went for Thanksgiving week a couple years ago, and it was pretty crowded but fastpass and EMH meant we didn't miss too much. Actually ate Thanksgiving dinner at Mama Melroses!

I vote for week after as well. If of interest to you you would also have access to filming of the Christmas Parade on the first weekend in December.

For dinner, I find the following a good reference in making that decision. There are a number of sites that do have Thanksgiving specific menu's:

Prices and some locations may change (list is 2007)
