Weather in May - Packing

I've read that May usually offers nice summer weather in Orlando, however I'm uncertain of what I should pack.

We are going with our 4 year old boy - should I pack jeans and hoodies just in case in gets cold?

We usually go every year in May and wear shorts and tank tops the whole time it hasn't ever been "cold". Usually perfect weather for me!

Shorts and t-shirts during the day. Maybe a light jacket after the sun goes down cause believe it or not if it is in the upper 80's or low 90's during the day 70's can feel cool.

I went in May of 2013 and we had pleasant weather for the first 5-6 days then the weather turned hot (think upper 80's and 90's) but before that it was nice. Actually a few times in the morning there was a slight chill and I found myself chasing the sun to stay warm and I had a light long sleeve shirt at night just for the A/C in restaurants.

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for the tip - I'll consider long sleeves for the evenings!

Shorts and t-shirts. It's in the 80s in May. And humid. And rains.

This is weather in Florida for a year:

December through February - chilly to cold (although it was 80 on Christmas Day)

March through April - warming up, may be days in the mid 60s, usually in the 70s

May through June - warm, in the 80s

July through September - hot, hot, unbelievably why did I come hot...and rain...and September is most active part of hurricane season

October through November - warm, might get the occasionally chilly November days around Thanksgiving.

We were there in June of both 2009 and 2013 and it was incredibly hot. Many days both trips in the 100's with storms just about every day. I've been to other parts of Florida in May and it was much, much better. Our next trip is being planned for May 2018.

We were there last May and it was hot. We never needed a long sleeve shirt. We were there for 4 nights and 5 days and it rained only one night. Going back the same time this year and hoping for the same weather.

I am not one that gets cold easily. Usually shorts until it hits the 30s. With that said, the weather should be warm. I tend not to pack anything for cold weather at times like this in the year. IF it got too cold one night, it is a souvenir purchase of a sweatshirt.

We were there in early May 2014 and it was BEEEEEAUTIFUL! Sunny, with only a few short rain showers, and just slightly warmer than the historical averages -- up to 90 some days. It cooled down a trifle in the evenings, but still in the comfy 70s range.

We were comfortable in shorts and tees all day, every day, and brought hoodies with us which we turned out not to need for the evenings, but did don often when in chilly restaurants and chilly indoor queues, where the air-conditioning can be a little aggressive at times. We brought a pair of pants each just in case the weather turned out to be colder than forecast, but the only times we wore them were on the plane down and on the plane back!

Any idea whether late June / early July is more like "unbelievably why did I come hot" or "just hot"? :)

Asking as I've never been later in the year than early June and this year we are contemplating last week of June and first week of July.

When we were there on our trips in June it was probably between the 10th and 20th. Temps in the 100's was well above the norm for that time of year.
