I have always gone during either February or April Vacations, but do to scheduling problems I'm going to have to make the trip in August....

Can anyone tell me what I'm in for as far as the Heat??? Is it manageable?

We went last August.

It is hot and it is humid - but you usually get an afternoon thunderstorm to cool things off. It's also a great time to go to one of the waterparks!

I was there for the first 2 weeks in August.

It was kinda cool first thing in the morning but pleasant. Then it became hot and the humidity levels were really high. However, most days there was a thunderstorm around 2pm that lasted around 20 to 30 minutes. Then it got really warm and humid again. Occasionally we got a thunderstorm late at night too, this was depending on the temperature during the day.

Hope this helps.

Been twice in August so I have a funny story-My husband and I sat down and waited for midday parade at MK to have a good view and my husband kept complaining of his tail being hot. Well when we got pack to the resort he literally had a butt burn from sitting so long on the pavement! It was (to me) super funny for the rest of the trip! No butt burn for me as I kept standing up during the parade.

So bring a towel if you plan on sitting down for long on that super hot pavement....and sunscreen....and sunglasses.....

I'm used to the humidity, living in the Memphis area, but the weather is just different in Florida. I've lived here for almost 18 years and not once have I gotten sunburn much less have I even peeled. Went to Cocoa Beach for the first time in September 2008 and I was peeling for two weeks straight. That's saying something for a Mexican.

We are traveling in August for the first time this year to!

A bit worried, Dad is 70, Mom and Aunt are 65.

I am planning on afternoon breaks by the pool or a short nap and a cool shower.

We've been twice in late august and the parks are much less busy. I have a 3yo and so we went quite early each morning to avoid the heat. We got there at park opening and did all of Fantasyland with her by 10:45AM. Then back to the hotel for pool, lunch, nap. If we had the energy, back to the parks in the evening for a meal and more attractions. The less crowded parks made up for the heat especially with that schedule. We will probably go in August again.
