Wearing one piece bathing suit and shorts acceptable at parks?

Kinda sad since back in the day people used to dress up nice and formally to go to Disney. Not anymore.

It's almost like how you can spot the Freshman in a college class....they always have the best clothes on, guys always wearing button downs or a brand-new polo with ironed slacks, and the girls have gone out of their way for hair and makeup.

Upperclass students....give them a crossbow and a cowboy hat and they could be extras on The Walking Dead.

I personally don't think a 1 piece would be comfortable. I think a sports bra with a tank top would be better. Easier if you have to use the restroom also.

Oh the images burned into my mind of people wearing, whatever they were thinking..............

Any ways you are better off wear layered cotton cloths as far as heat goes. I've gotten asked that before by out of towners, why do the men around here wear tee shirts under their shirts in this heat??? Answer, because it's actually cooler.

It isnt but hey who am I to question local practices

I remember those days, Wearing a coat and tie on an airplane or even going to dinner then a walk around the local mall. The bad thing was everyone smoked in those days so I guess it sort of evens out in the end.
Way to go...there goes another thread down the drain!

People look at me funny if I tour the parks in a one piece or a two piece swimsuit. You just can't please some people...

It's because your hairy chest and armpits obscure most of your itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny, yellow polka dot bikini. :D

(Now, everyone, spend the rest of your day getting that mental image out of your mind!):devilish:

I would normally start on a rant about the restriction of freedoms and the pursuit of the lowest common denominator, however, I will not (further) derail this thread. Wear the swimsuit at the pool, water park or beach. Wear comfortable shirts, shorts and shoes at the theme park. I'll stay out of your underwear drawer and let you pick that.

Stay Classy San Diego...

I'm intrigued by this now, how is it cooler? I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I'm very curious. So you put a t shirt on and then add another layer on top of it in the form of a shirt and this makes you cooler temperature wise?

As for the original question I just asked Mrs Merg about the merits wearing a one piece and shorts. Her first response was to look slightly concerned about why I wanted to know but after explaining this thread she responded. She reasoned that a loose 'vest top' with a comfortable bra is probably cooler and more comfortable than a one piece, so there you go. I may even give that a try myself next week when we arrive

Isn't this a "Grad Night" photo?
Could be. Although it is a known fact that people back in the 50's/60's/70's saw a Disney trip as a special occasion and dressed as such and didn't go dressed in short shorts that are too short, sports bras and one piece bathing suits lol

I remember my first trip to DisneyLand. I was 8 in the late 70s. I was bought a new vacation clothing and dress up for the plane. That said I prefer today's more casual style. Although I am conservative in my dress, long skirt or capris and t-shirt in public if it is really hot maybe walking shorts. Unless I am in a pool I wouldn't wear my swimsuit.

I cannot imagine the discomfort of wearing a one piece suit all day at a theme park. But since the op hasn't really weighed in on the conversation, not sure the reason why she wants to. If you were going to try to water park/ theme park hop I would suggest packing a small bag with your suit/towel/sunblock and stowing it in a locker or vice versa....go do the waterpark, change and then hit the theme park and store the bag in a locker.

loved the old photo. We did the annual two week summer vacation driving to California from Illinois. We always spent a day at DL with family. In all the photos we are wearing our "Sunday Best". I don't think my father went anywhere in shorts in my entire life......not even on the hottest St. Louis summer days in high sticky humidity. State Fairs, VP Fair, Cardinal ball games, etc., always dress pants and a button up shirt with a cotton undershirt on underneath. *showing my age but I grew up in the mid to late 70s.
