We Survived Ian … in an RV. Another JenniferS Live Trip Report

Well it looks like Ian is headed right for us as a cat 1 supposed to make land fall about noon time on high tide. Raining hard now and windy Local weather is saying 4-8" rain saying a storm surge is possible I think we are OK weather is not saying how high. Still have power --got the generator set up started yesterday just to make sure it would run --got plenty of gas. My Golden Retriever senses something she follows me all around the house usually doesn't do that. It's going to be an interesting day

Going to spend a couple of days in PF. It was too hot when we were there earlier this summer. Now it’s gorgeous.

We never did make it to Gatlinburg. Now we can. Also, maybe we can sneak in another round of mini putt. I can’t possibly lose four times in a row … can I?

Somebody in the Ian thread just received an email from Disney that her campground stay for 10/5 through 10/8 is cancelled as the resort will not be open.

Turns out I did not jump the gun!

It’s been cancelled.

Was supposed to have been Sunday, but there is no re-opening date for Fort Wilderness at this time.

I just got off the phone with the call centre. They have no idea when it’s re-opening, and the CM agreed that it’s not likely to be by Sunday.

We talked about going back to the Keys, but now we’re thinking of just heading home. It will take two days to get to Pigeon Forge, and then a full day to clean it, pack everything, winterize, and then put it in storage. That would get us home by Thursday some time … just in time for Thanksgiving weekend.

Also, I have a tooth bugging me. Maybe I can get a dentist appointment for Friday before the long weekend.

Disappointed, of course, but we’ve had a pretty awesome vacation. No complaints. Disney will have to wait. Maybe Tron will be open by then.

This trip has been an excellent adventure. It hasn't been nearly the trip you planned, but it's definitely an adventure!

We were there in July/August for 15 nights. We went to the Tanger Outlets a few times. It was a zoo! Maybe less so in October, now that kids are back in school.

Much less of a zoo in October on weekdays. Weekends are still a zoo. That didn't preclude dh from getting jerky

Outlets in Orlando are popular with Brazilian tour groups. The adults buy in bulk and resell in their home country. The luggage stores also do a brisk business since the items are shipped back or with them in the plane ride home.

We’re planning a PF trip over the Christmas holidays, and will bring Spenser with us. He desperately wants to visit the Titanic museum, so we’ll wait. Also, it’s EXPENSIVE!

I think I already mentioned the my daughter and son in law are headed to Pidgeon Forge this afternoon. It's going to be a damp ride to Tennessee, me thinks.

Did you watch the whole video? A bunch of scattered comments:
1) All these rigs make that same creaking noise. Stresses me out.

2) He ain’t lying about some parking lots being uncomfortably tight. He’s bigger than us for sure, but far more seasoned, so it about equals out.

3) We have what appears to be the same Furion camera.

4) At least his “driving” weather was good. Ours has been horrendous. When we left the Keys last Saturday, it was picture postcard perfect … hit the mainland and it was storm after storm after storm. Really hoping for a nice weather haul to Pigeon Forge.

5) Everybody you meet on your travels is a “friend”. I’m not a real social person in real life, but on the road, I’m totally different.

Our friends The BB’s texted us … come back to Fiesta Key now that your Disney trip is cancelled. We thought about it, seriously for a moment, but are going to stick with getting to Pigeon Forge and enjoying that area for a few days.

Pool is closed because one of the pumps overheated, but the repairman is on his way, and hopefully we can swim tonight.

Our friend Mark isn’t heading back to Tampa until tomorrow morning now, so Mikey has some male company for another evening of shooting the breeze.

Mark bought me some jerky while he was in town today. I swear he’s not aware of this trip report.
