Maybe Typoon Lagoon needs to be permanently closed because it is offensive. I thought the orignal joke was funny. It was a joke about WDW, not about peoples homes, etc, just about the parks and everyones rumors about new parks opening soon. Jokes like this would be inapporpriate after the storm, but before it is good for helping people - especially disney fans - have a little laugh.

Though I'm not offended, this is still 'after the storm'...that storm being Charley.

Universal did delay the opening of 'Twister' out of respect for the community (the signs even said that) due to tornadoes that sprung up in central Florida around that time.

Cut bamboo7 some slack. I figure if a hurricane has you in it's crosshairs, you pretty much have a right to relieve the tension any way you can.

I'm reading these threads inside my fully boarded and stocked up home close to the ocean in Palm Beach Co.

The original post gave me a good laugh. (I laughed at the weather report from Anaheim too -- of course everyone in the two hour propane line the other day agreed that we were glad that we get several days warning instead of having these things come out of nowhere).

Good luck to you and your family! Stay safe!

this post made me smile. i believe that for some, humor is a good way of coping with stress and making the best of a bad situation. and a class 3 hurricane is indeed a bad situation...much luck and safety to those in FL!

Bad Timing?

Uhhhh, yeah.......

With comedy, it's all about timing. This joke is just a few days too early......lol

WORD. Matter of fact, MEGA-WORD.

The actual idea behind the joke was sorta humorous but when you're living on a ghost town of a pennisula, a thousand some miles away from anyone who even knows your name and you haven't even had your electricity back for a month- a joke like that isn't neccisarily in best taste.

I appreciate your efforts towards lightening the mood though, that's really cool of ya - just be careful.

I added this bit o levity to the "official thread" but I'm going to quote myself here...

"And it rained upon that planet Earth. And it rained.................................................. and rained........................................................ and rained........................................................................ the Deluge."

I don't want to sound harsh. I understand you were just trying to lighten the situation. But I did not find this funny at all. There are a lot of poeple who are going to loose everything, possibily including human lives. I don't think this situation is something to joke about. A lot of poeple are still trying to get back on there feet from Charley and now they may be taking 10,000 steps back. Lets not crack jokes here, lets hope and pray that everyone and everything in Frances' path is kept safe.

Thank you! :)

side note: I hate this new forum layout -- but it'll grow on me, I'm sure ;) :D

Give it a rest...

It was a joke -- lighten up. I have friends, family, enemies, lovers, ex-lovers (although enemies mostly covers that), etc. down in Florida. It was still a joke and it was funny. It was board-related, Disney-related and it relieved some very high tension. If you didn't think it was funny and want to vent -- take it somewhere else. Like one of my favorite joke web site moderators always says, "If you didn't like the joke, it was probably your day in the barrel. Come back tomorrow, and maybe we'll do something you like." In other words, if ya don't like it move on, find something ya do like. Or as mother would always say, "if you don't have something nice to say, shut the hell up.

No one said it wasn't funny - just that it had HORRIBLE timing and didn't show any respect for anyone who could have potentially suffered a lot of damage.

Not that you'd know anything about respect judging by that quote.
