WDW Update from recent trip!

1. PI is closing forever because of all the "problems" disney has had in the past. It will be closed Sept.28. Disney just said that they were responding to guest requests. They will turn the clubs into restaurants and shops.
2. Backlot tour is running on its last legs and will be closing soon...
3.SpectroMagic also MIGHT be stopping soon because of light problems.
4.AND....I just wanted to say that my mother and I saw DDCT Parade twice in one showing in one day, front to back! We also had to make it to MK by 2:45 when we were in MGM at 2:10. We made into MK at 2:35! Record time! (We drove, also.) Well just wanted to give a little report! :wave:

Actually I heard it from a performer. I don't want to say who it is because she likes to keep herself private. But she's not sure about Spectro.

Perhaps the info about Spectro closing soon was mis-interpreted info about the upcoming approx 2-week hiatus of Spectromagic while the Liberty Square bridge is replaced...

Not sure where I heard that.



Bring back the Main Steet Electical Light Parade.

No specific date has been set. The only deadline that we know of is that the bridge work has to be DONE by the first Halloween Party the first week in September.

I presume that when Disney finalizes the dates for the refurb, Spectro will disappear from the calendar.

My current *guess* is August 18-31. (Starting on the 18th, Spectro is scheduled for only one showing per night. Before that it's two runnings on most nights).

Rob is correct about Spectro and the replacement of the bridge. However DDCT will also be affected by the replacement of the bridge. I haven't heard dates on the replacement of the bridge. But after that Spectro isn't going anywhere!

Well I heard these remarks from an entertainment cast member, and I've heard the Backlot Tour rumor for a while now. Not sure when they are closing, but no one prob. knows either. And here's what happened w/ spectro..not sure I'm suppost to be saying this, but oh well. The island they got their lights off of got hit by a hurricane, so as soon as they run out of lights...no more spectro.

Yup, the actual date range has been released by Disney, as well as the two showings of the Dreams Come True. Just posted the info in a new thread...

1. Guests WANT more shops and restaurants? Seriously?

Should anyone be surprised if the everyday guests want more shops and restaurants? I see complaints about ADR's constantly on the boards, adding more TS places seems to be a way to alleviate that.

As for shopping, I don't know a woman in my family who wouldn't love it if some high-end shops went into DD. Shopping becomes an experience in itself, and the club scene for many people at Disney simply isn't so important.

I was at PI in its heyday, and I wasn't impressed then. Compared to the clubs and comedy scene in many areas, it was simply lacking and not unique. AC might be worth saving, but otherwise, bring in the change!
