WDW Ticket Price Increase

So we're 100% at the place where tWDC doesn't want their guests staying for longer than a 4 day trip. So much of the added incentive is gone for families on 6+ day trips.

If Eisner was dead, he'd be spinning.

I beg to differ. Check these tickets for UK guests out.

A 7-day park hopper is now nearly $800, because let's be honest, there aren't a lot of times during the year when it won't come closer to the higher price than the lower price. In 2015, the same 7-day park hopper cost $400.
It’s unbelievable. This single fact should be enough to counter most defenses of Disney. Couple this with the slow pace of additions, the proliferation of upcharges, and the declining quality across the board - it’s honestly shocking. They are reaching a point at which the damage they have done to the parks is irreparable.

No one on these boards would have believed this future in 2015.

You know what's really sad? They can spin these price increases as "just keeping with the inflation we're seeing across the nation". And the lemmings will keep buying into it. Who cares that a 7-day park hopper has increased a minimum of 50% (and nearly 100% at the top end) over the past 7 years...
I think the real issue is - the number of lemmings who want to travel has increased 100 fold. Did you see the ride wait times today? I could see if it was crowded the week OF Presidents Day, but the Wednesday before? The parks are packed, even with the crazy prices and some things still not offered.
i figure part of it is revenge travel, part of it is people who aren’t vaccinated who don’t want to risk being turned away at their destination (and/or testing positive on their return and stuck in quarantine) choosing WDW instead, and some of it is the whole ‘I need to get this Instagram shot’ thing. Every ‘pretty’ destination in the US is packed 24/7/365 these last 18-20 months. My NPS contacts have never seen anything like it - campsites sold out, lines to take photos in front of natural wonders.
i think Disney looks at the crowds at the ticket booths and thinks ‘wonder if the lines will go down if we charge more?’ And if they don’t - then they just keep pressing on with the capitalism.

Get you for 4 days so they get the "we didn't have enough time" rebook.

Perhaps he’s spinning right now. In a circle. Wearing Mickey ears and pretending he’s at Disney 20 years ago in a club on Pleasure Island.

My apologies if this is a stupid question, but I’d greatly appreciate if someone could validate my thoughts.

I booked a 9-day stay and a 7-day ticket in June 2021, for a trip in September 2022. I only made the down payment of (I think) 200 USD.

When I need to pay the rest of the amount, will the price increase for the tickets be adjusted? Or will I get the price that was offered when I booked the trip last year?

I have reservations in September and since I need a valid ticket to make park reservations DVC sells renewal passes before the 60 days but only if you have a DVC reservation. I not only have Setember but also November. Disney needs to sell them so you can make your park reservation and not be blocked out. Now if they would get rid of this stupid system for those staying on property, they could go back to the old system.
They've reportedly been stopping others from upgrading early when not within 60 days of expiration. Hopefully your experience is the norm moving forward

Your price is locked in unless you change your reservation.

10-day base ticket went from $553.69-$703.65 to $582.09-$752.40

Park Hopper

1-2 days stayed the same

3-day park hopper went from $415.77-$555.88 to $416.37-$555.88

4-day park hopper went from $525.35-$687.27 to $540.89-$687.27

5-day park hopper went from $554.09-$721.38 to $572.47-$739.92

6-day park hopper went from $568.32-$736.44 to $586.96-$762.77

7-day park hopper went from $582.59-$752.08 to $601.63-$785.48

8-day park hopper went from $608.69-$769.36 to $628.04-$810.55

9-day park hopper went from $626.53-$782.46 to $649.96-$827.00

10-day park hopper went from $644.22-$794.17 to $671.55-$841.86

Park Hopper Plus

1-2 days stayed the same

3-day park hopper went from $437.07-$577.18 to $437.67-$577.18

4-day park hopper went from $546.65-$708.57 to $559.53-$708.57

5-day park hopper went from $575.39-$742.68 to $593.53-$761.22

6-day park hopper went from $589.62-$757.74 to $612.02-$784.07

7-day park hopper went from $603.89-$773.38 to $622.98-$806.78

8-day park hopper went from $629.99-$790.66 to $653.57-$828.03

9-day park hopper went from $647.83-$803.76 to $678.94-$844.66

10-day park hopper went from $665.52-$815.47 to $698.43-$863.16
It may be a little more complicated than that, single day/short stay tickets increased on quite a few days throughout the year. But the span of days without increases kept prices the same cost until stay was lengthened. With the $109 prices in September, the surrounding days (i.e. weekends) were increased while the $109 days remained.

These increases are relatively modest. Sure, the 7-day park hopper is almost $800, but it only went up about 4% and since the last increase, they’ve opened two nighttime spectaculars with an unprecedented level of popularity, a rat ride that guests scurry toward faster than a rodent sprints after a crêpe wrapper, and they’ve unveiled The World’s Most Magical Popcorn Bucket©.

Truth be told, I believe this was overdue. The last increase was before SWGE and MMRR opened, as well.

By spin you mean reality? That the inflation rate is up 7.5% and that costs of goods and materials are up across the board?

Of course that leaves out the fact that ticket prices are based upon DEMAND not inflation and not cost. So if the demand is there, and given park attendance it certainly seems so, the correct thing to do is to raise prices.
