I hate to break the news, but all of you look just like those guys after you've spent a full summer's day in the parks.

Sure, you think, it's always someone else. :lookaroun

Kudos to the unnamed cigar store guy who put an end to these shenanigans. That has to be the place at Downtown Disney, right?
sammy Sosa cigar shop....

I don't understand why it took them so long to catch up to these guys. They had originally given Disney a valid CC#. Why didn't Disney just charge back to the original card...or at the least track the number to find out the identity of the perpetrator.

I couldn't believe it!

These guys make me sick!:hurl:
Normal people like us who pay and enjoy the parks fairly get "duped" by these idiots!
Unfortunately though it seems everywhere you go nowadays people are looking for a way to "cheat the system"!
It's sad!:fork:

I think that's the loophole they were exploiting...

It doesn't look like they can charge the card originally holding the reservation, if you changed the billing card at check in. Reservations only pre-auth for one night if I recall.. so you don't need a lot on the card. But it sounds like the loophole was if you switched billing cards at the hotel, they break their ability to go back and charge the original reservation card.. and there is no pre-auth on the new billing card.

That's most likely where Disney's system was 'broke' and they were milking it.

great. thanks to these guys i probably wont be able to go to disney anymore. their likely to get rid of allowing debit cards and allowing only credit cards. i cant get any credit card ever thanks to a company i used to work for years back. thanks to their contract and poor to nothing pay, i lost my house, had a car repoed, and to this day still owe thousands, but couldnt leave or id be sued. although i havent been able to go in years, i was hoping to go sometime again soon, but thanks to these idiots i guess that will just probably be a dream, one that not even disney could make come true.:cry:

You may be overreacting just a little bit.

Several hilarious posts. Lol. Nice

One of my former employees would pull crap like this since he was always broke. Sign up for automatic payment for a college class then come middle of the semester the debit card was drained and I was getting the calls for payment and his location. Seems to be a scam that can be pulled easily in any hotel if you ask me.

This is why many places put large pre-authorization charges on debit visa cards up front. And part of why using debit cards as credit cards is a bad idea in general.

This sure makes me wonder. Last year I received a call from Disney Visa stating that suspicious activity in the amount of $1.00 had been charged to my account from a WDW hotel that day. We shut down the account right then and there and I had a new card issued. Coincidence???

They couldn't have gotten away with a ton per visit, though. Disney has certain limits (based on the class of resort) where they auto-charge your card. I think at the values it's something like $500 - once you hit $500, they charge your card, and every time you hit $500 after that. If I recall it goes to like 1K for mods, 1.5K for deluxes?

When something like this happens. Disney comes down HARD!. They will make an example of these three. Being a felony and I am sure this isnt their first time to the rodeo....equals a lenthy jail sentence.

Even worse....A lifetime ban from the parks.:hammer:

Not likely. Maybe, just maybe, if they have multiple felonies on their record, they might get jail time for this. Disney can scream all they want, but at the end of the day the judges always weigh the severity of the crime with the over crowding of the correctional system. If the people can be forced to work while on house arrest, or even probation, then the judge is more likely to make that the option so that restitution can be made, and the jail/prison doesn't add more to the population.

Maybe they're in jail, but no one can ever take away all of their Magical Memories.

LOL Good one. :ROFLOL:
