News WDW Resorts to add fees for parking

Can Disney please take more money out of my wallet? I mean, charging to park for drinks/dinner at the Poly? FFS. I'm sure paid guaranteed fast passes are not too far away.

To be fair...they have been discouraging parking lot hopping for drinks for years. I mean...when they stopped open parking at Boardwalk...it was kinda a sign.

It's not a good look for them at all.
Parking fees infuriate me. I actually dropped my Mets season ticket plan partly because of the parking fees. Our tickets averaged like $45 a seat per game. Then we had to pay $25 more for parking every time we went to the stadium. Felt like i was getting shaken down every time I went.

Disney is starting to give me that same feeling.

Also, why should they not charge AP's for parking if everyone else is paying. After all, things like AP's and DVC are really only money grabs by Disney, getting you to prepay for future activities so they get the cash upfront. You might be saving because of the present value of the future worth to you, but Disney is getting your money now. If they can get that with no problem, and slowly whittle away your other perks over time, what's to stop them from now charging to park.

As you're obviously a NY area resident, the same thing but worse happened when they reopened the Nassau Coliseum last year. They were charging $40 to park until local pressure forced them to drop the price.

Me too. I also despise parking fees lol. I get it in certain situations, that's fine, but they know they 'have you' and that they can get away with charging for it. Infuriates me too.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
I know a lot of people who fly in and rent a car because the buses aren't great - they take it to all parks with the exception of MK...
Me. 👋

Also, we do a lot of resort dining. I like being able to enjoy a day at the parks, drive back to CSR to freshen up, and then DRIVE to another resort in 20 minutes or so. I do not want to budget 90+ minutes to get from CSR to the Yachtsman; nor do I want to pay for a Minnie Van or Uber.

We hit Publix on the way in for water, Gatorade, and fruit, and then seldom drive off site again until we’re headed back to the airport. By not using DME or Disney buses (not even to MK generally), I think we are saving Disney money.

To heck with the parking fee! I want a rebate! They’ll pay me to opt out of Mousekeeping, but charge me to opt out of using the bulk of their “free” transportation.

You could flip it around and ask why anyone with a valid park admission has to pay for parking. We pay for parking as AP holders, it's included in the park admission ticket we're issued. That's on Disney not on the AP holders. Heaven forbid they give an incentive to their loyal customers. Not negating what the 'regular' guest pays for a trip, of course, but why shouldn't they offer a small measly incentive like 'free' parking? It's not like us AP'ers overflow the park like Disneyland.

They will charge AP holders because they can charge them; just like they will charge everyone else.

I imagine it'll work where you pay for parking at the resort you're staying and and for the duration of your stay you can park at any other resort without having to pay again because you've already paid. At least that's what they should do.

It'll be interesting to see if they try, as just a couple of years ago they started including parking in all annual passes, not just the most expensive. But of course they can and likely will change it at anytime they want. Just saying they made the effort at the time to include all passes with 'free' parking. But they eventually will probably charge everyone and they will get away with it like they always do.

I expect them to offer some sort of big (jk) discount to AP holders, like $28 instead of $30.

Probably. Although personally, they'll simply be changing "how" I get to the parks. I'm a patient man, so Lynx might become a friend of mine (and you'll need lots of patience if you use Lynx lol).

If self-driving Uber becomes a thing, Disney will run into more issues down the road as people start lining up for drop offs. Then again, they'll probably start charging just to drop people off eventually.

Arguing the DVC shouldn't be paying for parking as "it's covered by their common charges", unless you're staying at OKW or Saratoga, the other WDW DVC's share parking lots with regular hotels so that becomes a moot point.
This is not accurate, there is a complex structure of who owns what at each mixed use - its why DVC members can use the hotel pool at the Contemporary, and not vice versa.

I dont, Disney does. Im not the pricing analyst, but anyone willing to pay $800 would certainly pay $2000.
Are you just being argumentative for the sake of it? Disney determines the usage/benefits to an AP, Disney sets the price, Disney determines the number to sell and you are going to complain that the person who buys it agreeing to Disney s terms and conditions is causing the problem.

Makes perfect sense to me

Plus AP holders are a great way to help push you through a recession or minor economic hiccups without having to drastically reduce room rates etc.

Why wouldn't they want to differentiate from Universal and sell the more all inclusive feel? I'd rather pay up front and have a more relaxed time as soon as I arrive. Traveling hundreds or thousands of miles for some to get hit with a parking fee at the resort they are spending thousands and thousands at is absurd. "Welcome Home"
