Known about this for a while, I’ve heard the same thing this week, though I’m not sure this will be in place before Spring Break. This next quarter sure, but Spring Break seems to be a little odd. The parking lots aren’t set up for it yet.

I’ll include a link to the original post I made more than a year ago:

https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/rumor-wdw-resorts-to-add-fees.924149/

But I can confirm that this is absolutely real.

Read that.. it sounds too ridiculous to be true. I'll eat my words if I'm wrong, but I do not see Disney resorts suddenly charging their guests $50 per night to valet, or $30 per night to park.
They will be pushing people offsite or to the Swan, Dolphin or Four Seasons.

Tag me if it comes true.

Only a matter of time at the WalMart World

Is anybody surprised? Compared to some other hotels, the fact the Disney never charge for resort parking was always surprising.

Not surprised at all and this won't phase anyone...

However, it makes no excuse for the ongoing pricing war against its customers and overall poor management the iger regime has displayed in Florida since day one.

Technically it would be "staying on your membership". So a DVC discounted cash stay would still qualify. But I know what you mean!

But going forward, I still don't think they could charge for parking at a resort you were staying at "on your membership". Unless they cut the MFs of course :joyfull:

Disney will just do some fancy lawyering and DVC will be paying parking fees as well.

Where are all those who last year said this would never happen?

Edit: As a DVC owner, and with family members holding current APs, I'm definitely awaiting details on this. If at least DVC doesn't get free parking, there's going to be a PR nightmare.
Don’t ask me. Just is a better idea to trust what I say. 😉
Sounds like a way to sneak in a type of resort fee without having to put it on the actual booking
Ha ha, you wish. Resort fees are coming later.
Parking fees can be hidden in resort fees and, frankly, psychologically it is a much better option. Disney has a Magic Bus, the outside hotels do not in that same sense. Basically outwardly asking for a parking fee is the same as expecting their guests to walk there dragging their baggage behind them and then not having a workable transportation system to get people to the areas attractions. Greed could kill the goose that has been laying the golden egg.
Why do one when you can do both?
Owners staying on points would not have to pay.
Correct, for up to two vehicles.
Rosen Shingle Creek charges for parking. Its literally in the middle of nowhere.
I resent that! It’s gonna be across the street from Universal’s new parks! (Yes, parks with an s)
they cant vote in a parking charge - owners pay for the parking lot. It would be like the county charging you to park in your garage
Don’t joke about this. A county can do this as part of an environmental impact fee.

Trust me, I pay. Every day I enter I am paying for something. Whether it be another magic band, food, drinks etc. Just because I park for "free" doesn't mean my experience each day is free. However, most locals and AP's are consistent revenue of food and drink each day they go. I would be less inclined to stop by for an hour or two and purchase something if I'm being charged $25 each time.

Exactly. I pay for stuff too. Parking should be included. Personally if you had an admission ticket to the park no matter what kind it should say "includes parking". Sure the ticket price may go up more, but it always goes up now. I'd rather combine it into one. If you don't have valid park admission, you pay to park and then you get validated when you purchase the ticket. But that's going above and beyond for the customer. Instead we'll keep raising your admission and then charge you to park here.

It’s getting to the point now where it would be preferable for Disney to just hire some goons and shake us upside down by our ankles till all the money comes out. A little strong arm robbery. They are a bizness after all. Gotta get that money.

It's not a good look for them at all.

Arguing the DVC shouldn't be paying for parking as "it's covered by their common charges", unless you're staying at OKW or Saratoga, the other WDW DVC's share parking lots with regular hotels so that becomes a moot point.

While not defending this decision it should be noted this is common practice in the Hospitality industry and DIsney has been charging parking fees for years at their resorts in Anaheim as well as Aulani.
Many many places still do not charge. Even in those places you can find a decent place without paying a parking fee. Or rent a week from a timeshare owner.
They do, but they also charge less for the room.

In October we paid over $600 for Poly, and $250 for Royal Pacific, then add in the $22/day parking, so $272.

Cabana Bay Family suites were $170, compared with AoA suite at $360.

I'll take the $22 parking fee over the 100% increase in rate.....

But I do hate paying the fee.
Yeah, yeah, other places do it - that's not a justification for it

And other places in Orlando especially, as has been pointed out, charge wayyyy less for rooms. For bigger rooms, less money than All Stars, and better amenities.

I have stayed at Doubletree after New Years with no fees (Disney springs hotel booking special) and at B Resort with fees waived. So just because "others do it" doesn't mean you always pay those fees.

I still have an on-site reservation for June, for a few days until our week at our timeshare starts. We plan to have a car. If we are charged parking (we are AP holders) I will cancel and we will spend the week at the beach instead, until our timeshare week starts.

And that's not even factoring in the Express Pass value.

I just priced out a week in September....

Package for two at Universal with tickets and express pass for a week at Portofino Bay $2800, say you are paying parking at $22 a night that makes it an additional $154. Total: $2954

Same week at Disney Polynesian is $649 a night just hotel puts you at around $4500 and you have not bought tickets or anything else. Currently a 7 day park hopper is $490, multiply that by two your at another $1000 and add estimated $22/day for parking. Total $5634

Total of $2700 over for the Disney Vacation and lodging. Disney is good but is it that good?

Point of this is not to compare Disney to Universal but more or less you are paying crazy hotel rates at Disney because these "fees" should already be absorbed in those prices.[/QUOTE]

I agree with that, the fees should be absorbed in the price. I get that it's easier to justify the parking cost at Universal when the rooms are more than half the price of Disney. I still think it's wrong to charge for parking, regardless, lol

Although I'm not going to cancel my already booked Sept trip over a $25/day parking fee, it's going to make another trip to WDW very hard to justify.
