News WDW Resorts to add fees for parking

Honestly everyone has to draw a line somewhere. Sure $25 doesn't feel like much at that price point. But, keep in mind Beach club raised their rates by 5% for 2018. Now add in another 6%. That is an 11% increase over last year. That's not chump change. For a moderate like POFQ, it's even worse. You are talking about 13% increases. I can honestly say my line has been met.
I agree.. but I don’t think too many people will draw that line in reality.

From Disney to other amusement parks to cruise lines.. fees have been going up and up and more added.. less included that once was included.

So no matter where/what you frequent, it’s happening. Almost impossible to avoid.

Maybe i'm wrong, but i still see the advantage of staying on property. At an offsite hotel you often have to pay a resort fee of some kind, or for parking, or both PLUS parking at all the theme parks. Disney is only charging for the parking at the resorts. I still think its bad they've decided to do this because obviously free parking is better.

As for the busses being more crowded, they are also implementing the gondola system which i'm sure will help alleviate some of the crowds.
Give it time....

All the complaining on the boards is nice, but what everyone needs to do is complain to GR. Now. I haven't seen any positive response to this, just go check out the Disney groups on FB, people are TICKED off and it's dawning on many now what kind of company Disney has become.

Meh. Considering the hotel Im planning on staying at in DC is $44 a night to park, I think its a damned good deal.

I think there's a pretty big difference, though. I live in Atlanta and if you were to stay at the Westin Peachtree Center downtown I think it's $20 or so to park each day but, in my mind, that kind of makes sense in that it's a fairly packed very specific garage build and maintained by the hotel and there really isn't any extra land nearby for a parking lot.

If I go to a La Quinta on the side of I-95 then there's plenty of parking and no fee.

I get the fee in a crowded urban area where a parking garage has to be built, maintained, has limited spaces. I don't get it at some place like WDW which literally has all the land it needs to build parking spaces, much like the La Quinta.

It's just another money grab by them. It's their business model these days.

Yep, that one resort doesn't.

But let's be realistic, in the immediate surrounding area around the parks, most do. All the Hilton/Doubletree/, etc around Disney Springs do and have been for quite some time. Dolphin and Swan have been for years. We all knew this would happen at some point.

Like I mentioned earlier, you always have the option to stay at a Motel 6/Budget Inn for 59 bucks and free parking (and heck i did that the first few times I traveled to the World). If you are staying at a $450 a night hotel and can't afford the extra $24 a night, well then I don't think you should be staying there in the first place, which is why I don't.

I don't think you get it. It's not the cost, but the constant nickel and diming that's going on and they aren't even subtle about it anymore.

Yeah, of course, the theme of the hotel is definitely not the same, haha, but it's very nice.
Were such park nomads as it is. We pack what we need, and try not to leave. Thats why we stayed at POP, as it was literally just a place to pass out for a few hours before we were back at it. However we got burnt out with the overcrowding, and hustle and bustle last trip, and are looking to add more resort time, a bit less park time, and a more relaxing resort experience.

I mean, I can't speak for everyone. Honestly I was skirting the line already. The values have just become awful in my mind, and with the hikes in Port Orleans the last 3 years (Seriously, I stayed there for $160 3 years ago, it's $280 now), I was only staying on site when I found really good deals. This was my push. Are others there? I think you are seeing that there are some. Are they all serious? Probably not. I like to hope that everyone is and they will see some significant pushback. I doubt it. My guess is when they eventually feel the negative impacts from all these things, Iger will be long gone, and by that point, I'm not sure it will be able to be turned around.

We pay to park downtown Nashville too. If i want to go see my preds play in person, its a 15 dollar garage parking fee, but there's very very limited parking downtown, so its understandable. There's alternatives that are free or cheaper, but require more of a walk. Theres free parking and a foot bridge that we also use if were going to be downtown for a whole day. There isnt a lack of places to park, they just want more money, and wont give us anything in return. If this was to fund a doubling of bus fleet, or brand new monorails, or even a future expansion of skyliner to Animal Kingdom, or really anything to add to the crippled transportation system, i probably wouldn't be as mad.

Every time I go to Titans game, I park downtown near Bridgestone and walk across the bridge. It's a haul, but way cheaper than stadium parking.
