Oh, the horror of it all. I just hate having to pay money for things on my luxury vacation. Seriously, I could have sworn that Disney already charged resort fees.
I don't see the big deal and the other resorts do this for a reason. So, why not Disney?
It’s kind of funny to step back and realize everyone’s complaining about a $25 on a $400+ PER NIGHT ROOM. I mean I get it I don’t stay at the resorts anymore it’s just too expensive. By contrast though the parking fee is negligible. The problem isn’t the parking fee but the room rate. The fact is though Disney will still fill the rooms and it won’t matter if people are upset. They could have raised the room prices by $2 more than the parking fees, and I would grumble and pay it, and enjoy my time there. I expect prices to go up, it happens all the time.
Charge me for something that was free for the last 20 years that I have been visiting, and I feel ripped off.
I think the pricing has been very fluid. I was told different (higher) numbers earlier this week. So, to clarify some disparities between my understanding from more than a year ago about the plans and what was released today, here’s what I believe is happening:
What was announced today is a temporary measure. That doesn’t mean the parking fees will ever go away, it’s just temporary in how the fees will be assessed.
Eventually you will see the hardware installed at all the parking lots in the resorts to track parking. Once that happens, day guests will be charged as well, but have a validation system in place to keep it free if you are dining.
As for the price disparity, well, all I can say there is that my original information was either wrong or they had some MBAs do more research into what the fees are that people would be willing to pay for each resort category.
Anyway, I still believe resort fees are coming down the road. So there’s something for you to look forward to.
I’d be interested in how they are going to police this. Seriously doubtful that security is going to check every individual car every night, every resort. Heck on Halloween we were told we didn’t have to move car when we parked at Poly for our Kona ADR before Halloween party! We specifically said we were planning on going to the party too.
Why not organize a protest or march?!With all the complaints here, I would suspect Disney to do something else! If you oppose this new fee, YOU NEED TO CALL OR SEND AN EMAIL expressing your displeasure! THERE IS STRENGTH IN NUMBERS>>>WE CAN CHANGE THIS! Petition writers anyone!? Someone needs to write and online petition that we can click on and then have the results sent to WDW!
Indeed you are correct. The Orlando Sentinel article I read online stated the parking fees apply to those who book March 21st or later.
I already booked....I won't have fees.
Correct?
And hopefully reduce the number of people parking at the resorts just to go visit the parks.Welcome news and smart business. Get people onto the busses and out from behind the wheel. Should cut down on traffic and congestion across property.
