Putting you back on your soapbox, are there any books that you recommend?

For the technical: Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson (he also has some other books that are good--can't remember the names of those), anything that has "National Geographic Field Guide" in the title (there are a couple, if I recall correctly).

For composition...I don't know.
