Hey Figment Friend. I'm not a DVC owner but I am trying to figure out #5. Can you explain that one? I can't figure out how it can be that bad for the parks.

Sure.

I was referring to it in that way as some feel that the DVC encroaches on the Parks and the WDW Resort as a whole in more negative ways then positives.

Some fans feel that the resources could be better implemented to the Parks directly in the way of expansion, more attractions, and overall experience for all Guests.

It is also felt that the Company is focusing too much on the time share aspects on the Florida Property instead of keeping the Parks on the 'cutting edge' or in some opinions fully maintained properly.
Instead of using the land for more exciting themed experiences, it is instead being exploited for a a quick profit...but at what cost in the end as far as the quality of the Resort as a whole for future generations?
Instead of a Resort with lots of beautifully scenery, there are concerns that future visitors to WDW will see nothing but a chaotic urban mess fueled by over building. The clutter is already becoming too noticeable to some, and i am not talking about just DVC kiosks..!

Another aspect is some elements of the time share end of the business are taking away from the overall theme of some areas or are negatively impacting sightlines with poorly executed recent DVC properties.
The new DVC additions to the Lagoon Resorts for example have drastically altered the once beautiful views. What was once a unique setting is slowly being changed into a giant condo complex.
Guests pay the big bucks to stay at the Contemp, Poly, and Grand Flo for prestige, atmosphere and great lagoon views from their room windows.
This last aspect has been somewhat ruined by the continued building of 'apartment buildings' along the water.

So some are not overly happy with the transformation of the property.
In some eyes, DVC represents Disney's misguided focus at the FL Resort.

1. no more geet and greets, have all characters roam free through the parks like apparently the 'old glory days'
2. replace AVATAR land with a lion king land, including a dark coaster through the bone yard. and pride rock.

1 - Absolutely

2 - What an AWESOME idea - it would provide thrills and yet be entirely appropriate

Sorry, i have more then two.....

1. Build imaginative, inspiring, and timeless attractions and themed experiences that do not rely on currant IP 'trends' or shameless synergy marketing schemes.
2. Abolish the creative gapstop that is inter-Company politics ( especially at WDI )
3. No value engineering of major projects, and thoughfully healthy budgets for smaller projects.
4. Reinvest in EPCOT and revitalize the Park with experiences that present a experience that once again gives inspiration, empowerment, and true wonder to your Guests.
5. Stop the oversaturation of the time share racket known as 'Disney Vacation Club'....the 'great cancer of WDW'.
6. Park and Park Area specific merchandise in shops.
7. Clear up the walkways in the Parks by removing carts and other clutter. Food carts ...keep a few around, but Merch should go into the shops where it belongs.
8. Re-evaluate the food quality at your higher-end establishments.
9. Learn from the mistakes that will be coming with MM+/FP+....
10. Focus more on what is already there and get it to 100%...then look into expansion options if need be.
When i say 'expansion' i specifically mean within current existing properties..NOT a 'fifth gate'

Do these things, and the rest will follow...including increased Guest Satisfaction and sales dollars.

Agree on #5 - we are DVC and the developments at the GF and Poly are a cancer, The value engineered building at the GF is a cancer it destroys sightlines and it sticks out because of the lack of detail in the building it looks like a cheap apartment complex dropped in the middle of the GF, With the 865 Million they took in from BLT could they not have spent the extra 500K or so to get the details added to the new GF building DVC oh and added BLT II to restore the symmetry of the Contemporary soil mechanics my A-- with the money they made the civil engineering is definitely possible.

The DVC kiosks every 100 yards have to go, Sure you can have a few but theme them appropriately and make them few in number - like a Travel Agency on Main Street, Desert Airport in AK you get the picture

Ahhh, I love, love, love the idea of a Lion King Land. What a fantastic thought and so on theme for AK. Please become an Imagineer post-haste!

For me...

1) Fix the broken stuff. This is includes the Yeti, but also any/all maintenance, ride issues, clean-up, empty buildings, etc. It's just careless and it looks so crappy. It shouldn't be shocking for stuff to actually work but on our honeymoon, my husband and I were surprised whenever rides didn't malfunction. Not to mention, there was garbage in our log on Splash Mountain every.single.time and PoTC broke down about fifteen times while we were there. It just pulls me out of the experience and tbh, with the amount we spent on hotel/tickets/drinks/food, I just expect more.

I would be exceedingly grateful if Disney would invest more of their dollars in routine maintenance rather than fancy iPhone apps. We're from Canada and can't use our phones in the parks anyway, so this is a personal thing - but the billion+ spent on Next Gen deeply depresses me.

2) Stop being so freaking slow. I remember when new rides opened all the time. Now it's like, they're lucky if they can get a roller coaster built in 4 years. How can Avatarland possibly take till 2017? It's ridiculous to me that Universal are so quick and yet Disney folks can't light a fire under their own and just get stuff done. This must (?) have something to do with saving cash, and it makes them look pretty stupid if you ask me. Maybe they're PRing it as a safety or quality thing, but I highly doubt that's what it is.

I'm not against the idea of a 5th gate, but I do think they have SO much opportunity in their existing parks and it makes me sad that it's not being realized. It's a dead horse, but the whole fantasy element of AK and the dragon roller coaster still makes me grit my teeth with disappointment for what could have been.

thanks, ive had some good concept ideas on what could be done because ive always wanted to see it in the parks but frankly my drawings are not very good, heck even my stick figures are ugly. haha

i agree with you on forgetting about iphone apps and focusing on fixing up the stuff they have already, id rather enjoy a day where the only time i take my phone out is to take a picture or see if its past 10 am so i can have a beer.

First off, after research what happened to the Yeti I can understand the delay to why it hasn't been fix. The Yeti has a foundation problems and is under review to fix but they aren't sure whats the best method. Most methods have the ride closing for months, which would make more sense if they were going to do to a full restoration, but not for one fix. (I have my money on the Yeti being fixed after Avatar opens mainly because Animal Kingdom can not afford to have one of its only major attractions to close for multiple months).

While I don't understand why Fantasyland took so long to build(that Makes no sense), Avatarland does. Your dealing with two Nit-picky developers with Avatar, Joe Rohde and James Cameron. Rohde loves his detail while Cameron is not afraid to delay a project until its perfect. He delayed the release of Avatar by six months just to make sure the enough theaters could handle 3D. With that in mind,(And knowing that the environment will not just be plants and trails but living) makes be understand why Avatar will take so long.

As for my plan for WDW:
I would keep Animal Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom the same. I am content with the plans for both parks I would just take care of upkeep and adding features here and there.

For Hollywood Studios I would do a complete Renovation with half of the park being redone to new themes and land. As much as I love the working studios idea it doesn't work anymore, reclaim the studio land and use in for the park.

I would actually restore Epcot to its former glory by going about and trying to talk companies such as SpaceX, Tesla, and Boeing (Just to name a few) and try to get them to sponsor either Pavilions or stations in Innovations.

1. Sorry to beat a dead horse: bring back the damn Adventurer's Club..somewhere, anywhere. The Polynesian, AKL, D.Springs! Whatever! It was a uniquely Disney experience and there is a hole in my Disney heart that they need to re-fill for me and lots of others. Not Trader Sam's. Adventurer's Club!! Okay? That's #1.

2. Get rid of or repurpose that WOL pavillion because its giving me the CREEPS just sitting there! For real!

3. Speaking of the creeps, dear Lord please do SOMETHING with the decrepit ghostly and moldy remains of River Country. I am not kidding. Get a bulldozer. I loved it there and hate seeing it look like the set of a horror movie. Thanks.

4. Not happening but..AvatarLand?? Seriously? I don't care how many freakin Academy Awards that movie got. This is simply not giving me any Disney fluffy feelings at all. Nix this s$@t idea. Sorry, blue people.

Sorry for sounding angry but I looooooove WDW and know they can do just a tiny bit better.

1. Return of Horizon and those type of attractions!

2. A Fifth part with villain and LOTR. Lets face it Disney is always crowed and they need a fifth park.

3. Add a light rail, pod and /or extend the Monorail. Please I know it all is expensive(monorails systems can be a lot cheaper now a days), but the interesting transportation is a big crowd pleaser.

4.Bring back the Adventurers club.

5. Add a new attractions/rides to World showcase. Not thrill rides, but unique rides to the countries like Norway and The American adventure.

AKK

PS I don't really see the problem with DVC. We love it!
