When you think of the WDW monorail system, do you consider it an attraction in its own right or simply another form of transportation?

I say both. We ride it to see things around the grounds and what diffrent places look like from the rail, but also we try to only stay at resorts with the monorail so we can use it for transportation

Definitely both.

If I'm at Epcot or MK, I may use it to get to the other park, or to get from TTC to MK.

But even if I don't need it for transporation, I still make a point for us to ride it.

Tough to call anything Disney lets you ride for "free" an attraction, but the simple fact that so many ride it for fun suggests it is an attraction, at least on occasion.

Originally, it was a ticketed transportation attraction!

So..if it was a ticketed event, does that make it an attraction?
The ticket says it's for transportation, so does make it merely transportation?

Either way it was NOT free, but included with admission.

We consider it an attraction, but even if it were just transportation it is definately not free. If you park and MK and ride it, you paid to park. If you ride it from a resort, you paid for the accomodations.

I remember that. I think it was free if you were a resort guest, but even then you had to get your hand stamped the first tme you exited the monorail for the day to reenter it or you'd have to pay to ride again.

Very true, though if you are really devious you can park for free at the Contemporary (by saying you are there to dine or shop) and take a quick trip for free.

I would say both, but more an attraction for me. I always just ride just to ride...especially when I take the monorail that goes to Epcot. The ride is longer and you see more. I dont even get off at Epcot, I just keep riding. I consider it as transportation when we have a breakfast at one of the monorail resorts like Poly or Contemporary in the morning and then take the monorail over to MK. I love it!!!
