I wanted to get peoples opinions/thoughts/likes/dislikes about WDW in October. We usually like to go in December, which we did in 2008, but we are alreadt planning our 2010 trip and were thinking of maybe changing from December to October because my sun will be turning 5 on October 30,2010:kiss:

Any help would be appreciated:)

I forgot but the Halloween party is great too, you have to do it at least once. My kids loved the fact that they went trick or treating in the MK.

mickeys not so scary halloween is the best. We go atleast 4 times a year. And out of all of our trips we have never had one day stand out more. The fireworks, trick or treating, the park is just great. My girls still sing the Boo to you songs and talk about it every day. We did Xmas also and that was cool but does not compare to this. Go in October. Also not busy and cheap rates. Good luck have fun can send pictures if needed.

oh disney world has never had a direct hit or major damage during a hurricane. Also the hotels are all built to hurricane standards and not in a flood zone. So the 10 hrs or so of wind and rain you can go to Disney Quest.

We went in October and loved it. MNSSHP was fun, the weather was great, and crowds not bad at all.

Oooh ok...yeah come to think of it I've never heard of Disney being rocked by a hurricane...but it makes sense that they'd be prepared for it!

There was one very bad September about 4-5 years ago, but you're right, a severe hurricane hitting Orlando is not common. Bad effects for central Florida are unusual, but never say never.

My family and I have gone during Easter, summer, Thanksgiving/Christmas...but we had our first Halloween trip just last year. And, I have to tell you, it was awesome! Definitely something I will remember forever! Halloween is my favorite holiday, so to experience my favorite place during that time was something I had dreamed of for a very long time. The temperature was a bit hotter than I expected (and quite different from what I'm used to during that time of the year here in KY). And something I did NOT take into consideration when picking out a costume for the party (we're talking shorts and a tank top UNDER a full robe and hooded cape, wig, and fully painted face...everyone loved it, but I was BURNING UP...I certainly gained even more respect for the Disney characters that day). The only weather-related thing you really have to worry about is torrential downpours. We experienced one every day (sometimes during the middle of the day, sometimes in the evening), but they only lasted an hour. Course, we went earlier in the month...you may have better luck going late Oct.
BUT...you HAVE to experience WDW during Halloween at LEAST once! I'm 23 so, unfortunately, my inner child rarely comes out to play any more. But I was totally dancing and singing during both viewings of the parade (my family and I generally aren't "parade people", but we loved it so much the first time, we HAD to see it again) and after. The fireworks were great! The trick-or-treating was...just..AWESOME! Seeing Disney-fied ghosts randomly walking around the park...the Liberty Sq. lantern lights being eerily green...the buildings being lit orange, red, green, and purple. The whole place just took on a whole new atmosphere...and I LOVED IT!!!
AND they sell special pins and t-shirts during the party only...so it was fun collecting all that, too.

Good luck with your planning!

We went last year and had a blast! Trick or Treatin in MK what else would be more fun for Halloween. We even dressed up and had our picture taken alot. Here is a photo left to right SIL, DM, and myself. We are already booked for 10/26 - 10/30 of this year!

October is a great time of year to visit WDW, in my opinion.

- Food and Wine Festival (awesome)
- Not horribly crowded, usually
- Halloween Party
- Non-peak/non-holiday hotel rates

And the weather's just about perfect. :)
