WDW discovers Quinceañera parties

Most cultures have coming of age rituals for both boys and girls. I think they are great. However, what Disney is offering (especially at the price they are offering it) sounds a little ridiculous.
Unfortunately, that is what parents are willing to pay for Quinceañera parties. For my quinces, I had a small formal party as did my sister.

But I've been to a couple that are kinda like the sweet 16's on MTV. For the most part though, it is a big deal here and one of the sweeter moments is the father-daughter dance.

I was waiting for WDW to pick up on something like this, and I think DL has them too (which makes more sense over there with the larger Hispanic/Mexican population).

You've got to be kidding! 200 to 300 people?! We're inviting 100 to our wedding and it will be $30 a head at one of the nicest hotels in our city. And that's for a wedding!! I think this extravagent party is an Americanized version of what used to be a simple, celebratory gathering.

Everybody's got the right to do their wedding/confirmation/birthday/quince/whatever however extravagant they want. I myself want a small & simple wedding and if I have a daughter someday, she'll have a small & simple quinceanera. But if you have the money and desire to do something larger and more extravagant, why not? My friend in junior high had a huge party for her Bat Mitzvah, when I'm sure a lot of her peers had much smaller gatherings. But her parents had the means to throw her a huge party, so why not? I had a very small gathering for my confirmation, but that was my choice. In conclusion, if you have the ways and means, go for the gold, because it only happens once. :D

Wow I would have chose to do my quince at Disney World if I had the chance (actually I'll take any excuse to get me to the parks :D ). My grandparents wanted me to have a quince but I felt that it wasn't necessary for me. I have many relatives and friends who had huge quince's with guests well over 100. These packages sound as if it would be beneficial to those who already live in the Orlando area. Personally, I would have chosen the Illuminations package :sohappy:

It's a family decision. Would I pay that much for a 15, 16, or 18 year old's party? No. Many of my friends paid big bucks for their daughter's debuts, but I never would. My FIL offered my SILs (my husband has 4 sisters) the choice between a debut or a vacation; they went for the trip every time. I was poor, so none of the above was ever an issue. :ROFLOL:

Would I pay (or should I say, WILL I pay) that kind of money for a wedding? It depends. ;)

Disney to host Barmitzfas(How is it spelled),Graduations,33rd birthdays, and 1/2 birthdays for only 7000 dollars!

I don't see why this is getting a thread. It's not the kind of news that is going to excite anyone on these boards. If you want to get people on these boards to talk, you have to bring up monorail expansion. Good news, just not news worthy. Send this to general discussions.

actually, my high school graduation was held at WDW :)

And Bar/Bat Mitzvahs have been celebrated at WDW before.

Heck, I know of private birthday parties held at WDW that have cost in the millions.

I'm surprised that this is news, since I know WDW would have held one prior to this announcement if someone had requested one. WDW will do anything if you can afford it.

Monorail expansion wont happen. Its somewhere in the millions per mile ballpark and just isn't practical. There's been hundreds of posts by monorail-obsessed uber-fanboys who have an odd view of economics and the world towards monorail expansion.

And just because YOU don't think it's news doesnt mean that it's not news to someone else. No one is making you click on the thread.

Just an FYI, quinces have existed here for a while, but this is the first time an organized package has been advertised to the public.

I'm going to assume you have no idea how big quinces are or how much is typically spent on them. It is typical for a quince to cost as much, or near as much, as a wedding. This has been a big market for WDW, hence it's current expansion.
