This is a weird article...why do we need to know what verses he was using to write a sermon??

This also makes me wonder..if it really were a youtube video..say it was uploaded and had not been flagged and was viewable, and if watched the viewer can be arrested for child o? Just thinking hypothetically it would suck to be arrested for accidentally watching an illegal video on a site it is not supposed to be on anyways. How do they know their underage girls anyways? I dont see how they can name out youtube just like that and be a mistake. Crazy.

In all the states the age of consent is between 16 and 18. So not okay in any state.

I don't think they meant from the perspective of where it is allowable, but rather from the perspective "when" is it okay. As in if at all socially acceptable age it should be for the guy. For instance in situations where the boyfriend is also 15 would it be okay if he was 16, and still a minor? That sort of debate people get into not about the law, but when it should be applied with age differentials that people disagree on.

By the way though though there are usually things that can be done to loop around the age of 16 concent. I know some cops that got around that with rightfully concerned parents when's a 16 year old girl was dating a. 45 year old guy who met her when she was 14. Cops couldn't really nail him now without evidence of illegal conduct from then and often the way they go after people is by hoping and almost tricking the girl to go out on on a date in another state with the guy. Doing so allows for an application of some law generally about illegal transport of a minor across state lines. Allowing to go after those guys Is it shady for cops to do, yeah I guess. But at such a weird creepy age difference and background I'm still glad they get them.

That struck me as an attempt by the reporter to really fluff up the idea of what a hypocrite the guy is. Didn't seem to add anything to the story beyond a little cheap shake of the head that a guy would look at that stuff while he was writing a sermon on whatever virtuous traits he was researching.

Each state has different laws - who can have sex with who and at what ages. It must be illegal in Florida. It's legal in my state though. Just think this poor guy will now be place on the sex offender registry as well.

In NY it's illegal to have sex with someone under the age of 18. He will be placed on the registry and if they are bf/gf it's sad but also he should know having a 17 yr old gf poses issues and this is one of them. If he wanted her to make a video, he should have waited til she was 18 before asking.

If my company is doing this they are going to see a lot of WDWMagic. :)
Yeah... my computer history is chock full of Disney!:D
Thankfully they had a process in place to screen out any misuse of their computers. I'm always shocked at the number of "respectable" people caught doing these kinds of things. Pastors, teachers, law enforcement, etc. etc.. You expect more from those who you have an image of morality and who you rely on for trust. The world is a sad and scary place.:(

It's illegal in Georgia too. We had a bunch of high schoolers being arrested for statutory rape, because they were 18 but their girlfriends were under 18. Locally, we have a judge that offers a two-night program (one night for the parents and one night for the kids) that explains Georgia's laws as they relate to teens and young adults.

Agreeing with the following...

...now the whole shebang is the brainpower equivalent of the Darwin awards. *headdesk* Thoughts?

I completely agree! It doesn't get much dumber than that, but then again perverts and criminals aren't exactly the brightest of the bunch, otherwise they'd be doing something else. In terms of work and the internet, every company I've worked for that monitors your internet activity has told employees flat out that they do so. I can't believe that isn't common knowledge, esp. at a place like WDW. Just happy he's caught and out of there!

If true, this is despicable, but for some reason the article doesn't pass my sniff test. A while ago the Sentinel ran a headline implying that a Disney cast member was fired and arrested for "sexually abusing a child." Turned out it was a 20 year old having sex with his 17 year old girlfriend. While technically a sex crime, I don't think it rises to the level of pedophilia that the Sentinel was hoping people would assume it to be. They've been known to dramatically sensationalize stories to demonize Disney, Universal, politicians, etc and then issue corrections once the damage has been done.

In many states this would not be a sex crime......most states have a age of consent below 18 with a reasonably aged older adult.......most states a 20 year old would be protected having consenting sex with a 17 year old

Here in GA the rule is within 2 years of age, or over 18, as I recall. It was big news in the 90s when they changed it because they also got rid of the "common law marriage" rules at the same time.
