That's so cool! It's weird seeing how empty and barren Tomorrowland is on that map. It's like..... 2 buildings and a bunch of empty sidewalk.

if you notice on there at disney7.jpg, it seems to confirm something I have always thought I remembered from the early days. The opening from Liberty Square into Fantasyland was closed off, and you had to go around to get from one area to the other.

I especially loved the "Pocket" camera that is the size of a VHS tape...with the huge cube flash... brilliant! hehe

You know it's funny, I have this very same map (as well as quite a few others) in my Disney collection. Judging by the reactions to this one, I should scan some of the others and post them here.

Wouldn't surprise me if that was the case. Allegedly when Disneyland first opened (and for years afterwards), none of the themed lands were connected to one another by walkways or openings. They were all dead end alleys because Walt wanted every theme to be isolated from the others. Of course, as time went on they came to realize how inefficient this was for maintaining crowds.

I have that same map.

I also have TONS of old maps, but my scanner isn't big enough to scan them when unfolded. Thats unfortunate for me since my blog is dedicated to Disneyana from Disney World!
