WDW Awakens ...

I don't read anything on Twitter or follow any Disney Blogs, I do read here to get info about what that particular facet of multimedia is saying. I click on the occasional link but rely on this forum for an explanation of the event. My first impression of day one of this media event is:

So, Disney Springs is based on some lame turn of the century small town where there was an actual spring? The backstory is supposed to make it Kooler than any other outdoor Mall? Really? Well, to me, it will always be a place to eat a decent dinner on a day I don't go to the parks. The end. The theme matters not. I do not intend to "srtoll through Town Center, admiring the floaties around the "spring" or get my photo taken in front a ...water tower. I may eat at the Boathouse. I may have exactly one overpriced drink at Jock Lindsey's.

There are pretty much no stores there I can't find at the Mall of America a half hour away. BTW, MOA now has a "ride" called Fly Over America with the same type of ride system as Soarin for $17.00 that lasts much longer and is not just California. We are going to check it out and make a comparison. There is also a theme park (Nickelodeon Universe) that you can get single ride tickets, an aquarium and other entertainment. This year, we are doing MOA with an overnight stay so we can barhop the Mall.

WDW will wait for 2018

And unlike Disney there is no cover charge to enter the MoA...

I should have been more specific, I was referring to the DL forum regulars/fellow Westerners. Sorry about that!

I haven't seen any of your posts! Do you post in the construction thread? I refuse to partake in that thread and glance through it, so that could be why I haven't seen your posts.
Yes I've posted in the construction thread. "Here you leave today and enter the world of Yesterday, Tomorrow, Fantasy, and Star Wars."

Free parking to boot! And, if your 12-year-old can't be burdened with walking, strollers are only $7 (compared to $15 at WDW). ;)
I go to MOA often (for milk tea) and I don't get why this comparison is carrying on. There is no comparison. Give me Epcot even at 100 bucks a day any day.
And Nickelodeon universe doesn't count it's extra charge and not worth it.

There have been phenomenal deals to Tokyo that I wish I were in the position of being able to take advantage of (planning on going next May right now) ... but funny you bring this up as Bricker apparently upset some of his flock by suggesting that they'd be better off skipping Destination D (another D23 event in a relatively slow time at WDW this fall where they remind you of how great WDW once was and likely never will be again) and going to TDR, which is so far beyond any US Disney quality.

I agree with Tom. TDR is more affordable than most people think if they are used to WDW. The only side effect is that you may not want to visit WDW anymore after seeing what Tokyo has to offer.

I find it ironic WDW fans get it, but not the DLR fans. Blows my mind.

I just might create an anti-Star Wars Land thread.

It really is only 3-4 people in the DL forum that don't get it, but they are making it almost unbearable to say anything but everything is great. I don't post much over there anymore because the name calling for posting anything seen as negative has gotten ridiculous. It's truly unfortunate to see Star Wars land experience or whatever they call it shoehorned in Disneyland where it doesn't belong.

I'll let @ThemeParkJunkee and @ford91exploder speak for themselves, but I would imagine the comparison is being made on the basis that a day in a Disney Park and a day at Mall of America both represent a day's entertainment.

Riding Dumbo is not the only form of entertainment.

There are only 3-4 regulars in general in that forum haha.

I've had to add people to my ignore list. And if they're really going to call it "Star Wars Experience," they may as well just call it Star Wars Land. LMAO What kind of a name is that?

Look out for my anti-Star Wars Land thread. I'll create it sometime tonight, and we'll complain and moan all we want.

They are going behind the walls of frozen today but of course no pics or video allowed.

I have a media friend that's there and helping us ask questions. This person has asked a couple of specific operations questions, such as opening time of day (9 AM or 11 AM?) and stuff around FP+ support. The handler didn't know, and seemed surprised that someone asked. As in "Your job is to sell the 'what' to your viewers. We'll provide the 'how' details later."

Also was told that scenes 1 and 2 of RoL aren't working. They're getting a preview of scenes 3 and 4 tonight, IIRC.
