WDW 5th gate

I was thinking about this earlier, does anyone know if disneysea was originally or maybe is still planned to be the fifth gate at WDW. A couple of things just seem curious to me. Like 20k lagoon being completely demolished when DL version might get new theme. Or the fact that fire mountain was planned for Adventureland but never happened, or the lack of an indy ride yet although that could go either way. I hope that whatever happens that they wait a while and work on their current parks first, not to mention they are seriously stretching how much people want to spend.

I heard that DisneySea was supposed to be built out in California instead of DCA. No idea how true that is though.

Good ideas never die!

I believe that elements for Disney Sea came from ideas tossed around in the past, I think you’ll see some similarities between early designs for the second Tokyo park and original ideas for Westcot, Disney’s America, Beastly Kingdom and original designs for phase II and III of the Paris park. The idea for a sea themed park was 100% original to the team that created Disney Sea.

Actually, it was originally planned for Long Beach, CA. It was going to be in Long Beach Harbor next to the Spruce Goose and the Queen Mary.

But they had disagreements about who pay for the infrastructure. So of course, traffic in the area would increase and Long Beach wanted Disney to pay for all the road improvements. I guess Long Beach didn't want to become another Anaheim, at least, not if they had to pay for it.

I doubt this park would be built in WDW, maby DL but not WDW...

(I think i read about Long Beach's, wasn't it more educational then themepark?)

Well, doesn't it seem like a major coincidence to you that major disneysea attarctions have been kept out of WDW seemingly on purpose, not to mention the persistant talk of a 5th gate. Besides, I hope DL get westcot eventually, would have been a great park.

Personally, I don't think WDW needs a 5th gate at this time. There's just too much that needs to be fixed in the other parks. But if a new park does get made, I hope it's Disney Seas. The rides and theming there look superb. I especially want to ride Journey to the Center of the Earth, 20K, and the Indiana Jones ride(although it's rumored that this is gonna be part of WDW in the near future).

A trillion yen is the equivalent of 10 billion dollars, which will happen in at least 10-15 years(will definitely happen when I'm CEO:D).

As I also say in 5th gate discussions..... I PRAY we don't see one for a long time, if ever. Improve what we have... get AK up to full-park status... fill in all the dead areas in MGM... make Tomorrowland an actual LAND... and futureworld at epcot... well...

I don't think there will be a 5th gate at Disney for a while...Maybe 5-10 years (at the least) but who knows? There is a possibility if everything at Disney is going well, they have fixed all the rides, and gotten the matience up, that the 5th gate COULD be coming. -Don't quote me on that, it's what I heard from a worker in Disney World-

There used to be an Amusment park in that exact spot. And such a beautiful and great racing coaster.

It has bee gone way before my time but the wrecking ball for this coaster was the Queen Mary...

Disney could use a new park in maybe 4 years or so. AFTER they have rehabed all the rides and what not. They have done a good job in the past couple of years of strategically (sp?) rehabbing certain rides a couple at a time. They should be done soon. Then, they could maybe start on a 5th park for the Walt Disney World Resort. It looks like with all the hotels popping up that they may be already making plans for expansion anyway.
