Water cup change??

They give you water, you just don't want it because "it tastes funny or it's warm" so let it burn your eyes. You expect to go to someones place and for them to give you something that costs them extra. Nowhere on your ticket does it say 'water included' and I don't care if you paid $1000.00 a ticket. That is not what you were paying for.

So what do they do... they give you water, but, now the cup isn't big enough. If it isn't big enough buy one that's bigger. They aren't in business just to give assets away whether you think they should or not. Take responsibility for yourself, your hydration is not Disney's responsibility. They don't ignore it, they just don't do enough according to some of you. You also tend to look at things as singular... I want a cup of water, that isn't asking too much. And then you fail to multiply that by the thousands and thousands of people that are there everyday. Even the cost for the person that handed you the cup was an expense that you decided was owed to you. You're wrong, it is not owed to you, it is given as a courtesy, you seem to want to make it into an entitlement. It is not. You might have noticed that they sell water. If their intent is to give it away, why do you suppose the bother to sell it?

You really want to get into a p***ing match about a cup of water, claiming it costs the company extra? Guess what? SO DO WATER FOUNTAINS! That water doesn't just magically appear in the water pipes. And water is an "asset" that the company doesn't have an obligation to provide to guests. Got it. So you're in favor of removing said water fountains, then, because "Nowhere on your ticket does it say 'water included'", and by providing any form of "free" water to guests it's costing TWDC money [and God forbid a penny escapes their grubby little paws] because guests can just buy water. Your post is quite possibly one of the most ignorant posts I've read on here in a while, and that's saying something.

I'll drink out of the water fountains if I'm thirsty. It's water - Yeah, it may be warm or taste funny (I kinda like the taste, it reminds me that I'm at WDW :) ), but it's definitely better than passing out due to dehydration. We'll also bring a bottle with and refill it at places like the Electric Umbrella, Sunshine Seasons, Backstage Express, or Restaurantasaurus.

Storybook Treats gave me a full sized cup a few weeks ago. Also I went there last May one night to get some ice cream cones and a Coke and the CM thought my accent was so funny that he asked me to place my order again. So I did. He wanted the other CM's to hear how "southern" I sound. So we all had a good natured laugh out of it and then he said "Since we laughed at your accent all your order is free!" I thought that was really cool. I insisted I would pay but they wouldn't let me. I guess if you're southern and reading this you might wanna just go there and simply talk. LOL!

What we do even before moving here was to purchase a Camelback or Lifestraw water bottle.

These bottles have filters on them and even make this awful Orlando tap water very drinkable. These bottles run about $20.00 at any sporting good type stores.

There are locations throughout each park that have iced water coolers that any guest can walk up to and either get a cup of ice water or fill their own nottles. Also, you can go into some QS restaurants that have free refill stations to fill these bottles as well.

Some of the locations off the top of my head are these:

Tune In Lounge - Studios
Sci Fi Drive In - Studios
Guest Relations - Magic
Crystal Palace - Magic
Guest Relations - EPCOT
Nomad Lounge/Tiffins - Animal

Some QS restaurants with free refill stations:

Backlot Express - Studios
Restaurantsarus - Animal
Pizzafari? - Animal (can't be 100% sure here)

A water fountain does not require the cost of cups, the cost of employees to hand them out, the cost of refrigeration both of the water and the creation of ice. So lets compare it together. Again, I know that Disney could generally give out water with out going broke, but, that is not what they are in business to do. They are in a hot climate because that gives them year round access for the public, not to give away things that the public should have planned for and not think that the "extra" was required. As you said, water is available, and it is, at this point, free in both places, but quantities and cooling processes are not their responsibility. Do you think that they should spoon feed you too? I didn't say you shouldn't be able to refill your own containers with water, what I'm saying is that this whole discussion is based on the complaint that the cups are smaller. So what... you got your damn water, drink it and be happy. If you want more, they have vendors all over the place and the water is really cold. If you can afford a Disney vacation you can afford a couple of bottles of water per day if it is all that important to you.

I really wish Disney took the route of Universal here... Coke Freestyle Machines. When we were there you could buy the cups from Universal to get the soda, but the water was free, filtered and cold. We filled up several times with water. It was easy, made money for Uni (tons of people purchased the cups) and satisfied the need for water. I am NOT starting a Uni vs Disney debate, but this was sure something I appreciated while we were there.

they sell designer water like any other place. your argument is legitimately built around the fact that they dont have to....your right. hell they dont HAVE to have any rides. if you paid 100 bucks to get into a park with not a ride in sight still nothing wrong. point is all these things add up to guest experience and expectation. see i can buy water all day long but i can also say that free cold water in a cup isnt asking much....seen stock prices lately? in fact i bet you own some....(caint wait for that bubble to pop) this change among others is just a piece of cost cutting and corner cutting across property. your argument that it costs disney money is weak at best....yes it costs money for the cups...but its a tangible gesture of hey we care....one of the few left.

It's not the water it's the cups(and the lids and the straws) that cost them the money. Americans are spoiled. You do realize that in most countries you do not get free water, even at restaurants that you are having a nice dinner. They charge you for a bottle of water. If you asked them for free water they will look at you like you are crazy and greedy, after all, why should they give you something for free. I work in food and people come in and want a big cup for "free" water and then proceed to fill it up along with several slices of lemon that are supposed to be for those who purchased iced tea. No one thinks its a big deal since its just some water. Well all of that adds up and has to be rolled into the cost of the food. I bet the same people who complain about the prices are the same ones who always want "free" water, or extra sauce or everything put "on the side" so you have to waste a bunch of those mini portion cups. Paper goods is a big chunk of cost for restaurants.I think most Americans think that they should be entitled to stuff like this because a few decades ago, restaurants started doing this as a bonus to try to get more business. I think every one needs to travel out of the country at least once in their life to see how the rest of the world lives. Just to appreciate how wonderful America really is. (and how spoiled we all are )

Always got free water for the table at any place in Europe that we have eaten at ... Never looked at like we were crazy

Exactly. (This next part is for poster you quoted and not you lol) And people ask for things like lettuce or mayo on the side not because they are greedy but bc they have medical issues and only want light condiments put on their food and from experience know that most restaurants can't grasp this simple concept. So instead of having to send back an entire entree, they ask for it on the side.

See my earlier note.... The water fountains in the MK are pitiful. Most of them only have enough water pressure to run one spout at the time regardless of how many are on the fountain. There are four spouts on the one right behind the castle but if people try to use more than one only a trickle of water comes out. We refill our water bottles from the fountains but it is a real challenge.
I somehow have been going to WDW every year, use the water fountains all the time and have never had an issue.

What's up with people getting h20 at Starbucks? Is it Free?
Saw a lot of that last week and those cups were not small!
When I went last year, I did get a couple of complimentary glasses of water from various Starbucks. However, I only asked those times other people in my party were actually purchasing coffee. I didn't go in specifically to get water. And the glass varied between the grande and tall sizes. There didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to which size they used.

If you need it that bad... buy some. There is no rule that states that they have an obligation to support your health without some compensation. Contrary to some unbelievable belief, water is not free to anyone that doesn't own a well and even then you have to pay for a pump and the electricity to pump it out of the ground. Why do you think that should be free. As it is, it is free, so I think you are coming out ahead in this deal. Someone had to pay, even for the small cups, you don't seem to want to acknowledge that.
Agree 100%
Disney even lets you bring your own water! We brought a few bottle with us daily.
omg are they reducing the size of something already free? ;)

I guess just ask for a second cup after you finish the first.

I do the free water cups also, but every once in awhile I break down and buy a Dasani, they're reasonably priced for a theme park and I like having the cap on top lol.

Yep. Water at WDW is $2 less than water at our home amusement park.

the insult of this post burns my eyes....pay over a 100 bucks a day and you feel free water is some grotesque inconvenience for disney? in an environment where people could die....your right they dont have to but any sane buisness would. its alot cheaper than lawsuits because you like seeing people drop dead. as an annual pass holder i scoff at buying wayer at those prices. i will have them fill me 4 cups of water if using a larger cup is such an issue. this will be grand when there are long lines.

What you are paying for has nothing to do with receiving FREE drinks. You are paying for admission into a theme park. Spending money and your own hydration is your responsibility, not WDW's. I don't think the tickets state anything about included drinks.

It always amazes me that people who CHOOSE a WDW vacation then try to get around paying for things that everyone else does. No one is requiring you to go. Hate to sound harsh, but you know what you're getting into when you book the trip.

Edited to add, comments like this are why I really believe prices are going up. To compensate for all of the people who feel entitled to free things because they are spending money on something else.
