Wand coming down in the fall?

I'm gonna just drop a quick word in here to clarify my position on the whole wand deal. I had planned to stay on the sidelines for a while, but I am told my statements are being a bit questioned on other sites.

First, all I have said recently concerning the wand is that I have been told that Siemens had no real opinion or say one way or the other. I was told that from a reliable source at WDW, in person, last week. That's all I've said lately. I never said it was, never said it wasn't. I did say a little while ago that there was no plan for it to come down. That was absolutely true as of the time I said it, to the best of my information.

Now...is it coming down? Maybe. I'm pretty sure one way, but due to the nature of the information, and who gave it to me, I need to stay quiet for a bit longer. I'll just sit quietly over here in the corner and watch how it plays out. I'll let Spirit over at LP carry the ball. (His info is very nice, by the way. Probably second on that site only to Lee MacDonald...who ain't me. I'm taller, and less British.)

As far as I know no one at Laughing Place.com is attacking your creditability. There is one poster there who has made some insinuation about what you said but has been corrected. He just won't give things up, he must have some kind of a grudge against this site. Even a person I suspect was banned from WDWMagic said you had remained on the sidelines in this discussion. I for one love both that site, and this one. I also realize when you're ask to sit on something, and you don't you will no longer get information or give out information that everyone on here wants. I for one would never judge a persons creditability just because they chose not to respond to it. Things as everyone knows constantly change at WDW from day to day. We still have the Dragon logo at AK, and on merchandise, just no BK which the dragon represents. Creditability is never established over one issue, only a long period of time. So I believe you, and Corrus will always remain creditable, and knowledgeable in the Disney community.

Just to be clear....
NEVER once in this thread, or in the last couple weeks for that matter, have I said the wand wasn't coming down.
As I said in my first post in this thread, I was at Epcot last week and picked up some wand info which I was asked to sit on. That's it.

Nothing I have said at this point is contradictory to Spirit's info over at LP. As I indicated in an earlier post, from what I have read of his stuff over there, he has the goods.

Based on the way rumors fly around here, I guess I should start a new one.

What web site did you get this initial source for the rumor off of? When I started this thread I made it perfectly clear that the person stating this was on Laughing Place.com. Maybe I missed something, but I don't remember him saying anything about it being removed in celebration of Epcot's 25th anniversary. Am I just missing something in your post or did I interpret it wrong.

Muy post may have been mis-worded... One place that had it posted about the Celebration was Intercot. However based upon the dates this was out a day or two prior to the thread on LP so I may have incorrectly assumed that is where it originated...

Regardless of any of this it was and still is very amusing that the wand is coming down as a PR show, yet WDW hasn't publicly said anything about it. That is what I was posting based upon my being bored and spending about an hour reading nothing but wand posts on other Disney sites.

As a side note there is only one person I have seen bashing this site or questioning people's credibility from here. Sounds like a disgruntled person who was most likely banned... I'd say he/she needs to get over it...

They've been right a lot more than they've been wrong.

So if you have Lee or Corrus saying one thing, and some other 'source' contradicting it, Lee and Corrus are more likely to be trusted, at least around here.

And I completely respect that, especially from my viewpoint as an outsider. What I objected to was another party basically attempting to shut down any further discussion, as Lee and Corrus have made their proclamation. I think Lee and Corrus would probably agree with me that that's a silly thing to promote on a web discussion site. Let everyone have their say, and then at the end of the day try to sort it all out and figger out who was right and who was wrong, and then let credibility fall where it's deserved.

Completely agreed about blindly accepting anything a person states as fact, esp. on a discussion forum.

However sometimes words are placed onto someone that they never actually said. As far as I can see Lee never made any proclamation in regards to the wand going or staying - perhaps you can try and help clarify that elsewhere

As far as the credibility issue goes - no one is ever 100% accurate. Obviously there are many people who are considered "reliable" stating different things about the wand from different sites. Whoever is right or wrong will not loose anything in my mind - all of them have more inside knowledge than I do and no one is perfect.

But--maybe I missed something--have we established yet whether they are doing any work on the SSE rehab, i.e. AC or something similar, that would require a crane? I'm sure the wand issue isn't completely decided, but if there will indeed be crane work going on that would at least give a little weight to the rumors claiming that a rehab crane will also be used to take down that...other crane.

Granted. This online world is such a strange animal. Every once in a while a thread like this comes up, where the personalities involved become more important than the story itself. I'm sure there are dozens of people both here and at other sites who are now closely watching the possibility of taking down of the wand, if only to prove or disprove the veracity of their favorite online pundit.

I really see nothing wrong with the wand...it adds a touch of magic to sse. There is really no reason to take it down, maybe update the red sparkles on it and add some night time lighting effects, it could be even better!
